Neuronal effects of Sugammadex in combination with Rocuronium or Vecuronium.

Rocuronium (ROC) and Vecuronium (VEC) are the most currently used steroidal non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking (MNB) agents. Sugammadex (SUG) rapidly reverses steroidal NMB agents after anaesthesia. The present study was conducted in order to evaluate neuronal effects of SUG alone and in combination with both ROC and VEC. Using MTT, CASP-3 activity and Western-blot we determined the toxicity of SUG, ROC or VEC in neurons in primary culture. SUG induces apoptosis/necrosis in neurons in primary culture and increases cytochrome C (CytC), apoptosis-inducing factor (AIF), Smac/Diablo and Caspase 3 (CASP-3) protein expression. Regulation of hdc expression and HDC activity by enological factors in lactic acid bacteria.

Aims:  The aim of this work was to study the influence of enological factors on the histidine decarboxylase gene (hdc) expression and on histidine decarboxylase enzyme (HDC) activity in Lactobacillus hilgardii, Pediococcus parvulus and Oenococcus oeni. Methods and Results:  Cell extracts and whole cells were used. Glucose, fructose, malic acid and citric acid diminished the hdc expression. Ethanol did not increase hdc expression or activity in cells, but increased HDC activity. Temperature and pH had effect on the activity of HDC but not on hdc expression. Tommaso Riolo, nacque a Palermo nel 1815 da una famiglia di artisti. Nipote del più famoso pittore Vincenzo (Palermo 1772-1837), il suo apprendistato si svolse proprio presso lo zio paterno, nella città natale. I suoi lavori furono esposti fin dagli esordi della sua carriera nei cataloghi delle Esposizioni di Belle Arti tenutesi a Palermo dal 1841 al 1875 . Sebbene le vedute del pittore riguardino prevelentemente luoghi e architetture palermitane, alcune rappresentano altre località siciliane. Comparing micro-cutting and mini-cutting technique for the clonal propagation of Metrosideros excelsa

public gardens for its foliage and attractive red flowers. M. excelsa plants are commercially propagated by soft and semi-ripe cuttings. Therefore, new and more reliable propagation techniques derived both from conventional and advanced propagation methods should be considered to support Metrosideros nursery development. The mini-cutting and micro-cutting techniques were compared for the clonal propagation of M. excelsa. Holocene sea level change in Malta

A multidisciplinary approach has been applied to study sea level changes along the coast of Malta using data collected from underwater archaeological remains. The elevation of archaeological markers have been compared with predicted sea level curves providing new bodies of evidence that outline the vertical tectonic behaviour of this region, allowing estimation of the relative sea level changes that occurred in this area of the Mediterranean since the Bronze Age. During the Roman Age, sea level was at −1.36 ± 0.1 m, while in the Midde Age it was at −0.56 ± 0.2 m, in agreement with previous estimations for the Mediterranean region. Cada vez son más las profesionales del Trabajo Social, la psicología, el Derecho, la Educación Social, las fuerzas de seguridad que se enfrentan a estos temas en muchas ocasiones sin la suficiente preparación y sin los recursos necesarios. las intervenciones que se realizan desde las instituciones públicas pueden pecar de epidérmicas. Es urgente una nueva orientación que proponga un cambio radical de modelo social, económico y político.
