Selective adsorption of ethyl mercaptan on NaX zeolite.
2008
Adsorption on microporous solid is an alternative technique to remove mercaptans from natural gases. The present study gives equilibrium adsorption data on NaX faujasite for some pure gases representative of natural gas impurities (ethyl mercaptan, toluene and n-heptane) and their binary mixtures. The first part of the paper is devoted to the adsorption of pure gases. Experimental results show that the zeolite has a high adsorption affinity for ethyl mercaptan, toluene and n-heptane. In the second part, we examine adsorption isotherms for binary mixtures of ethyl mercaptan and toluene or n-heptane over a large domain of composition. Coadsorption enthalpies are also determined. These experim…
Hierarchical Ordering in Ternary Co-Crystals of C60, N-Benzyl Ammonium Resorcinarene Bromide and Solvent Molecules
2014
Co-crystallization of C60 together with an N-benzyl ammonium resorcinarene bromide from toluene:1,2-dichloroethane mixture results in ternary co-crystals where the modulated C60 lattice entraps dimeric resorcinarene assemblies, which, in turn, have 149 and 280 A3 cavities filled with 1,2-dichloroethane molecules.
Slow and fast methyl group rotations in fragile glass-formers studied by NMR
2000
Abstract The spin-lattice relaxation times of the selectively ring deuterated, fragile glass-formers propylene carbonate and toluene were compared with those measured for species which were specifically labeled at the methyl groups. It was found that the dynamics of the CD 3 group is strongly decoupled from that associated with the primary response of toluene, while for propylene carbonate the degree of decoupling is relatively weak. The experimental results could be described successfully using a model which takes into account the ring dynamics as well as those of the methyl group.

On the Nucleophilic Reactivity of 4,6-Dichloro-5-nitrobenzofuroxan with Some Aliphatic and Aromatic Amines: Selective nucleophilic substitution
2020
The reaction rates for the nucleophilic aromatic substitution of 4,6-dichloro-5-nitrobenzofuroxan 1 with eight aliphatic amines (characterized by very different basicities/ nucleophilicities) and three anilines have been measured in both methanol and toluene. The obtained rates have been related to the basicity (pKaH in water and Kb in benzene) or nucleophilicity (N Mayr constants) of the tested amines. The whole of the obtained kinetic data has furnished useful information on the high nucleophilic reactivity of benzofuroxan derivatives, which has been related essentially to two factors: the high electron-drawing ability/power of the condensed furoxan ring and the low aromatic character of …
Oxomolybdenum(VI) complexes with glycine bisphenol [O,N,O,O’] ligand: Synthesis and catalytic studies
2014
The oxomolybdenum(VI) complex [MoOCl(L)] with a tetradentate glycine bisphenol ligand (H3L) was prepared by reaction of [MoO2Cl2(DMSO)2] with a ligand precursor in hot toluene. The product was isolated in moderate yield as separable cis and trans isomers along with the third minor component, [MoO2(HL)]. The solid-state structure of trans-[MoOCl(L)] was determined by X-ray diffraction. The ligand has tetradentate coordination through three oxygens and one nitrogen, which is located trans to the terminal oxo whereas the sixth coordination site is occupied by a chloride. Both cis and trans isomers of [MoOCl(L)] are active catalysts for epoxidation of cis-cyclooctene and sulfoxidation of tolyl …
Selective palladium-catalysed dimerisation of methyl acrylate in ionic liquids: towards a continuous processThis work was presented at the Green Solv…
2003
The activity and stability of cationic palladium complexes [Pd(PBu3)2S2]2+ used for the selective tail-to-tail dimerisation of methyl acrylate are significantly improved with the utilisation of ionic liquids like [BMIM][BF4] or the protonated N-butyl-imidazole, [HBIM][BF4]. Problems related to product inhibition and catalyst recycling are overcome by running the reaction in a two-phase mode, toluene being used as extractant. Catalyst stabilisation is further improved by trapping the ancillary ligand into the ionic liquid with an ionic tail: with the use of 1-dibutylphosphino-2-dimethylaminoethane, the catalyst is stable for more than 100 h, therefore demonstrating the feasibility of a conti…
Metallatomsynthese, Eigenschaften und Struktur von μ 2 ‐(η 3 ,η 3 ‐Toluol)bis[(η 6 ‐toluol)eisen](Fe‐Fe)
1995
Metal Atom Synthesis, Properties, and Structure of μ2(η3,η3-Toluene)bis[(η6-toluene)iron](Fe-Fe) Metal atom cocondensation of iron atoms and toluene produces the mononuclear iron sandwich compound [(η6-toluene)(η4-toluene)Fe] 1. Complex 1 reacts with a palette of N-containing ligands such as primary, secondary, and tertiary amines as well as pyridine, pyrrolidine, and tmeda to form highly reactive instable intermediates. In the temperature range from -80 to -30°C, the proposed intermediates react with toluene to form the first homoleptic Fe/toluene complex μ2-(η3η3-toluene)-bis[(η6-toluene)iron](Fe-Fe) (3) regardless which N-containing ligand is used. Additionally, 3 is also formed when eth…
The Kinetic Stability of Cationic Benzyl Titanium Complexes that Contain a Linked Amido-Cyclopentadienyl Ligand: The Influence of the Amido-Substitue…
2002
Cationic benzyl titanium complexes [Ti(η 5 : η 1 -C 5 Me 4 SiMe 2 NR')-(CH 2 Ph)] + were cleanly formed by the reaction of the dibenzyl titanium complexes [Ti(η 5 : η 1 -C 5 Me 4 SiMe 2 NR')(CH 2 Ph) 2 with B(C 6 F 5 ) 3 and [Ph 3 C][B(C 6 F 5 ) 4 ] in bromobenzene. NMR spectroscopic studies suggest that the benzyl titanium cations contain a fluxional η 2 -coordinated benzyl ligand. Kinetic analysis showed that the benzyl titanium cations decompose according to first-order kinetics and that the amido substituents R' (R' = Me, i Pr, t Bu) in the linked amido-cyclopentadienyl ligand influence the lability of these benzyl titanium cations. The order of the kinetic stability of the benzyl titan…
Nitropyrroles, Diels-Alder reactions assisted by microwave irradiation and solvent effect. An experimental and theoretical study
2017
The behaviors of N-tosylnitropyrroles acting as electrophilic dienophiles in polar Diels-Alder reactions joint to different dienes of increeased nucleophilicity are analyzed. The reactions were developed under microwave irradiation using toluene or protic ionic liquids (PILs) as solvents and in free solvent conditions. In all the cases explored we observed good yields in short reaction times. For these reactions, the free solvent condition and the use of protic ionic liquids as solvents offer similar results. However, the free solvent conditions favor environmental sustainability. The role of PILs in these polar Diels-Alder reactions has been theoretically studied within the Molecular Elect…
