Plexiform ameloblastoma of mandible: case report
2010
Ameloblastoma, a benign epithelial odontogenic tumor, is locally aggressive. This tumor comprises about 1% of tumors and cysts arising in the jaws. It appears most commonly in the third to fifth decades and with equal frequency between sexes. Ameloblastoma prevalently occurs in the mandibular molar and the ramus areas. Recurrence frequently appears after inadequate treatment. They are usually benign in growth pattern but frequently invade locally and occasionally metastasize. In the present study, a case of unusually large plexiform ameloblastoma was presented with its clinical, radiological, histological features and treatment modalities, and this is the addition of one more case in the li…
Enzimas salivales y enfermedad periodontal
2006
Retention of three fissure sealants and a dentin bonding system used as fissure sealant in caries prevention: 12-month follow-up results
2007
Background. Bonding agents could be used as fissure sealants. This study compares the retention three fissure sealants (Delton®, Delton Plus® and Concise®) and a filled dentin bonding system (Optibond Solo®). Methods. Fifty-six children aged 7-8 years received fissure sealants either in the four permanent first molars, in the four deciduous second molars, or in all eight of these teeth. Every child received a different sealing material in each quadrant on a random basis. Clinical evaluation at 12 months was performed by a single blind examiner, and the retention was classified as either a success (total retention) or a failure (partial retention or not present). Results: There were no stati…
Effect of indirect composite treatment microtensile bond strength of self-adhesive resin cements
2016
Background: No specific indications about the pre-treatment of indirect composite restorations is provided by the manufacturers of most self-adhesive resin cements. The potential effect of silane treatment to the bond strength of the complete tooth/indirect restoration complex is not available. The aim of this study was to determine the contribution of different surface treatments on microtensile bond strength of composite overlays to dentin using several self-adhesive resin cements and a total-etch one. Material and Methods: Composite overlays were fabricated and bonding surfaces were airborne-particle abraded and randomly assigned to two different surface treatments: no treatment or silane…
Salivary proteome and sensitivity to bitterness
2010
Among the various factors that dictate food choices, the sensorial acceptability and the in-mouth perception of food are essential. For example, bitterness is partly responsible for the rejection of some vegetables by some consumers. In this study, the aim is to evaluate if the salivary environment of an individual plays a role in his sensitivity to bitter taste
Relationship between volume of submandibular salivary stones in vivo determined with cone-beam computer tomography and in vitro with micro-computer t…
2021
Background Successful removal of salivary stones depends on exact pretreatment information of the location, the size and shape of the stones. This study aimed to compare the volume of submandibular sialoliths determined by preoperative Cone-Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) scans with the volume of the removed stones on micro-Computer Tomography (micro-CT) scans. Material and Methods In this study, using twenty-one submandibular sialoliths, the pretreatment volumes in-vivo measured on CBCT were compared to the volumes of removed stones determined by micro-CT scans. The volume measured on micro-CT scans served as the gold standard. Pre-operative CBCT’s and in-vitro micro-CT’s were converted in…

Drill failure during ORIF of the mandible : complication management
2007
A case of a drill breakage during open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of a mandibular fracture is reported. The clinical decision, diagnosis and surgical management of the complication are described.
Data set: Towards a rapid screening of liver grafts at the operating room using mid-infrared spectroscopy
2020
The estimation of steatosis in a liver graft is mandatory prior to liver transplantation, as the risk of graft failure increases with the level of infiltrated fat. However, the assessment of liver steatosis before transplantation is typically based on a qualitative or semi-quantitative characterization by visual inspection and palpation, and histological analysis. Thus, there is an unmet need for transplantation surgeons to have access to a diagnostic tool enabling an in situ fast classification of grafts prior extraction. In this study, we have assessed an Attenuated Total Reflection-Fourier Transform Infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopic method compatible with the requirements of an operation…
