Continuous hydrothermal synthesis in supercritical conditions as a novel process for the elaboration of Y-doped BaZrO3

Abstract The present work describes a novel process for the elaboration of a ceramic material. Y-doped barium zirconate, an electrolyte material for Protonic Ceramic Fuel cell, was synthesized by a continuous hydrothermal process in supercritical conditions (410 °C/30.0 MPa) using nitrate precursors and NaOH reactants. The use of supercritical water allowed the formation of particles of about 50 nm in diameter with a narrow size distribution. X-Ray Diffraction examination revealed that a major perovskite phase with few BaCO3 and YO(OH) impurities was obtained. The peculiarities of the radiation damage accumulation kinetics in the case of defect complex formation

Abstract The kinetics of radiation defect accumulation under irradiation by heavy particles is theoretically analysed under the assumption of defect complex genesis, particularly, the ones of anion and cation vacancies. The obtained analytical mathematical model and revealed peculiarities of radiation dose dependencies can be used for analysis of the experimental results for different crystalline materials for solid-state electronics and photonics.

Phase change materials (PCMs) are highly attractive for nonvolatile electrical and all-optical memory applications because of unique features such as ultrafast and reversible phase transitions, long-term endurance, and high scalability to nanoscale dimensions. Real space observation of two-dimensional Bloch wave interferences in a negative index photonic crystal cavity

We report here the direct observation of two-dimensional (2D) Bloch wave interferences in a negative index photonic crystal by using optical near-field microscopy techniques. The photonic crystal is formed by a defectless honeycomb lattice of air holes etched in III-V semiconductor slab. A scanning near-field optical microscope is used to visualize spatially, as well as spectrally, the light distribution inside the photonic crystal. The recorded near-field spectra and maps presented here unambiguously demonstrate the Bloch wave interferences within the photonic crystal. Simulation of IQE tuning of individual cells for DC-balancing multijunction tandem cells

In the present work, the performance of stacks of cells connected in series is examined at different levels of internal quantum efficiency (IQE). Incident photons, generated by employing the ASTM G173-03 data set, are accounted for individually as they interact with the stack of cells. The efficiencies of the devices studied are dependent upon the DC balance throughout the stack of cells. It is demonstrated that reducing the internal quantum efficiency of upper cells can lead to a better DC balance and thereby higher efficiency.

Nous comparons experimentalement les resultats de la caracterisation en intensite et en phase d'impulsions optiques ultracourtes obtenus par differentes techniques employant un montage auto/inter-correlateur en intensite et un analyseur de spectre. Nous employons pour ces tests une impulsion en limite de Fourier, une impulsion affectee par l'auto-modulation de phase et une impulsion similariton.

Effective characterization of the phase and intensity profiles of asymmetrically distorted light pulses in optical fiber systems

International audience; We address the problem of characterization of light pulses that propagate in long-haul high-bit-rate optical communication systems under strongly perturbed conditions. We show that the conventional technique for characterization of the phase and intensity profile of such pulses becomes qualitatively inconsistent when the pulse's profile is asymmetrically distorted with respect to its center of mass. We resolve these inconsistencies by partially reformulating the conventional technique by means of appropriate pulse parameters, which we call upgraded parameters, that allow a fair characterization of the intensity and phase of all types of light pulses, including those …

Neocomian to early Aptian syn-rift evolution of the normal to oblique-rifted North Gabon Margin (Interior and N'Komi Basins).

18 pages; International audience; The North Gabon coastal rift basins consist of a set of 130–150 long-segment asymmetrically tilted half grabens (Interior Basin) and 000–020 short-segment en échelon half grabens (N'Komi Basin) separated by 040–060 major transverse faults. Tectono-sedimentary analysis of field and subsurface data reveals the control exerted by extensional tectonism over continental sedimentation. Abstract During the Equanaute survey (June 1992), fourteen submersible dives were performed between 4950 and 2250 m water depths across the southern slope of the Cote d'Ivoire-Ghana Marginal Ridge (CIGMR), in the eastern Equatorial Atlantic.
