Remineralizing effect of a zinc-hydroxyapatite toothpaste on enamel erosion caused by soft drinks: Ultrastructural analysis

Background The aim of the present in vitro study was to evaluate the protective effects of a zinc-hydroxyapatite toothpaste on repairing enamel erosion produced by a soft drink (Coca-Cola) compared to toothpastes with and without fluoride using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Gingival bleeding reduction using a carbamide peroxide based tooth paste with lactoperoxidase

Introduction: The combination of carbamide peroxide, thiocyanate or enzymes such as amynoglucosidase or gluco-oxidase is able to reduce gingival inflammation. Objective: To evaluate antiseptic efficacy, in relation to reduced gingival bleeding, of a new dentifrice containing carbamide peroxide and lactorperoxidase. Evaluation of the Clinical Efficacy of Potassium nitrate Desensitizing Mouthwash and a Toothpaste in the Treatment of Dentinal Hypersensitivity

Potassium Nitrate has been used as a desensitizing agent to treat dentinal hypersensitivity. The effectiveness of a potassium nitrate is evaluated both in the form of a toothpaste and a mouthwash in a clinical study. Thirty patients were assessed using evaporative stimuli and thermal stimuli and response was evaluated using Visual Analogue Scale at baseline, at 2 weeks and 4 weeks. A handy and accessible tool for identification of Sn(II) in toothpaste.

AbstractAn easily accessible colorimetric probe, a carbazole–naphthaldehyde conjugate (CNP), was successfully prepared for the selective and sensitive recognition of Sn(II) in different commercially-available toothpaste and mouth wash samples. The binding mechanism of CNP for Sn2+ was confirmed by UV–Vis, 1H, and 13C NMR titrations. The proposed sensing mechanism was supported by quantum chemical calculations. Selective detection of Sn(II) in the nanomolar range (85 nM), among other interfering metal ions, makes it exclusive.
