The periods of the generalized Jacobian of a complex elliptic curve
2015
Abstract We show that the toroidal Lie group G = ℂ2/Λ, where Λ is the lattice generated by (1, 0), (0, 1) and (τ̂, τ͂), with τ̂ ∉ ℝ, is isomorphic to the generalized Jacobian JL of the complex elliptic curve C with modulus τ̂, defined by any divisor class L ≡ (M) + (N) of C fulfilling M − N = [℘ (τ͂) : ℘´(τ͂) : 1] ∈ C. This follows from an apparently new relation between the Weierstrass sigma and elliptic functions.
The value of perfect and imperfect information in lake monitoring and management.
2020
Highlights • Knowledge on the value of monitoring can assist decision-making in lake management. • We calculate value of perfect information theoretically. • We estimate value of imperfect information with Monte Carlo type of approach. • Generally, monitoring is profitable to invest in if VOI exceeds the cost. • Additional monitoring is profitable even if the lake is in good condition a priori. Uncertainty in the information obtained through monitoring complicates decision making about aquatic ecosystems management actions. We suggest the value of information (VOI) to assess the profitability of paying for additional monitoring information, when taking into account the costs and benefits of…

Alexithymia and the implicit self-concept of extraversion in women
2016
Abstract Findings from studies using self-reports suggest a negative association between the personality traits of alexithymia and extraversion. Self-report measures are assumed to assess aspects of the explicit self-concept of personality. Indirect measures, such as the Implicit Association Test (IAT), were developed to tap into the implicit self-concept of personality. The present study examined for the first time the relationship between self-reported alexithymia and the implicit self-concept of extraversion. The 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale and an Implicit Association Test (IAT) assessing extraversion were administered to 86 healthy women along with the NEO Five-factor Inventory (N…
Magnetic field dynamos and magnetically triggered flow instabilities
2017
The project A2 of the LIMTECH Alliance aimed at a better understanding of those magnetohydrodynamic instabilities that are relevant for the generation and the action of cosmic magnetic fields. These comprise the hydromagnetic dynamo effect and various magnetically triggered flow instabilities, such as the magnetorotational instability and the Tayler instability. The project was intended to support the experimental capabilities to become available in the framework of the DREsden Sodium facility for DYNamo and thermohydraulic studies (DRESDYN). An associated starting grant was focused on the dimensioning of a liquid metal experiment on the newly found magnetic destabilization of rotating flow…
Transient Electrical Behaviour of the TF Superconducting Coils of Divertor Tokamak Test Facility During a Fast Discharge
2022
The paper is focused on the electromagnetic analysis of the Toroidal Field (TF) superconducting coils of the Divertor Tokamak Test facility (DTT) when electrical transients occur in the TF coils system: for example, during the operations of the Fast Discharge Units (FDUs) and considering also, the simultaneous occurrence of a fault condition. During the FDU intervention, a transient voltage excitation lasting few microseconds occurs at the TF coil terminals and it electrically stresses the insulations of TF coils itsef. To investigate the voltage distribution across, inside and between different Double Pancakes (DPs) of each TF coil, a lumped parameters circuital model has been developed an…
Mingling in Paedeia Café : student teachers' experiences of participating in peer-mentoring groups of pre-service and in-service teachers
2015
This study examines the experiences of student participants of Paedeia Café Finland, a part of the European PAEDEIA project. The aim of the project was to build bridges between pre-service and in-service teacher education and to develop practices for supporting new teachers in the induction phase. Five European countries (Denmark, Finland, Portugal, Sweden and Turkey) participated in the project and in Finland, Sweden and Turkey local induction programs called Paedeia Cafés were implemented. In Finland Paedeia Café was organized as peer-group mentoring for mixed group of pre-service and in-service teachers. The aim of this study was to find out how student teachers experienced Paedeia Café …
Paedeia café nuorten opettajien silmin: käsityksiä opettajaopiskelijoiden ja opettajien yhteisestä vertaisryhmämentoroinnista
2016
Hakari, Henni & Mantere Viivi. 2016. Paedeia Café nuorten opettajien silmin – käsityksiä opettajaopiskelijoiden ja opettajien yhteisestä vertaisryhmämentoroinnista. Kasvatustieteen pro gradu -tutkielma. Jyväskylän yliopisto. Opettajankoulutuslaitos. 68 sivua. Paedeia Cafe on uusi vertaisryhmämentoroinnin muoto ja osa Euroopassa toteutettavaa PAEDEIA-hanketta. Paedeia Cafén tavoitteena on tuoda opettajankoulutus ja työelämä lähemmäksi toisiaan ja näin tarjota tukea opettajille työuran alkuvaiheeseen. Tutkimuskohteena oli Paedeia Café -ryhmiin osallistuvat nuoret opettajat. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää, millaisia käsityksiä näillä nuorilla opettajilla on ryhmän toiminnasta ja milla…
