Effect of electrostimulation training-detraining on neuromuscular fatigue mechanisms.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) training and subsequent detraining on neuromuscular fatigue mechanisms. Ten young healthy men completed one NMES fatigue protocol before and after a NMES training program of 4 weeks and again after 4 weeks of detraining. High-density electromyography activity in various hamstring exercises

Proximal-distal differences in muscle activity are rarely considered when defining the activity level of hamstring muscles. The aim of this study was to determine the inter-muscular and proximal-distal electromyography (EMG) activity patterns of hamstring muscles during common hamstring exercises. Postactivation potentiation can counteract declines in force and power that occur after stretching.

Stretching can decrease a muscle's maximal force, whereas short but intense muscle contractions can increase it. We hypothesized that when combined, postactivation potentiation induced by reactive jumps would counteract stretch-induced decrements in drop jump (DJ) performance. The aim of this study was, firstly, to confirm or refute the existence of circadian rhythms during several velocities of concentric action of the elbow flexor muscles and, secondly, to compare the characteristics of these circadian rhythms with those obtained during isometric actions. Neuromuscular fatigue induced by a 90-minute soccer game modeling.

This study aimed to quantify neuromuscular fatigue induced by a soccer game. Eight amateur soccer players (age 20.4 ± 1.3 years, mass 70.4 ± 6.9 kg, and height 174.9 ± 5.2 cm) reproduced a 90-minute soccer game modeling composed of two 45-minute periods separated by a 15-minute rest. Torque of quadriceps and hamstring muscle groups associated with electromyography, sprint speed, and vertical jump height was assessed before, at halftime, and immediately after the modeling. Short-term changes in the series elastic component after an acute eccentric exercise of the elbow flexors

We have studied the effect of a unique eccentric exercise session on the series elastic component (SEC) properties of human elbow flexors. Ten active females performed five sets of ten maximal eccentric contractions on an isokinetic ergometer. Maximal isometric (MVC) torque, and the corresponding myoelectrical activity (RMS) of the biceps brachii and the triceps brachii muscles were recorded before, immediately after, 48 h after, and 1 week after the exercise session.
