This paper analyzes the behavior of Ibex35 from January 1999 to December 2001, in order to check if it follows a different process from random walk so its return is not a white noise and it can be predictable, against the efficient market hypothesis. For that, a nonlinear generating process of return will be considered and a STAR-APARCH model will be specified. This model allows a nonlinear behavior in the conditional mean and in the conditional variance. The empirical results show that the Ibex35 follows a nonlinear and asymmetric process, both in the conditional mean as in the conditional variance, so the weak-version of efficient market hypothesis is rejected. The objective of this study was to adapt and validate the Recovery Experience Questionnaire for use in an educational context. So far, this measure of detachment has mainly been used with workers. The study aimed to verify the factor validity and the criterion-related validity through correlation with self-regulation, engagement, coping strategies, and big-five personality dimensions in a sample of 468 Spanish university students. Several models proposed in the literature have been tested through confirmatory factor analysis. The paper reviews the realistic and engagé movements that cover the European postwar years. And then it studies the parallel Catalan movement focusing on the problem of identity assertion in the narrative. In many of our narrators of this realism of complaint (Concepció G. Maluquer, Estanislau Torres, Víctor Mora and Joaquim Carbó) national commitment accompanyies social and political commitment. It is a peculiar trait that distinguishes our movement and gives the physiognomy of its own.

Direct lookup and hash-based metadata placement for local file systems

New challenges to file systems' metadata performance are imposed by the continuously growing number of files existing in file systems. The total amount of metadata can become too big to be cached, potentially leading to multiple storage device accesses for a single metadata lookup operation. This paper takes a look at the limitations of traditional file system designs and discusses an alternative metadata handling approach, using hash-based concepts already established for metadata and data placement in distributed storage systems.
