Utopia e distopia nel progetto digitale

2020

2012

ToToPI, for Topography of Tours Pre-Industrial, is a GIS for studying of the city of Tours (France) in large time span. The aim of this paper is to explain how GIS is used for historical data processing to understand time-space dynamics. The proposed principle for understanding the urban dynamic is based on considering the town as a set of complex objects, taking a systemic approach. The town system used to study the urban fabric over large time spans is composed of three sub-systems relating to historical objects from the level of the excavation to that of the former urban space: function (social use), space (location, surface area and morphology) and time (dating, duration and chronology)…

MEXICO AND ITS “LIBERAL TRIENNIUM”: LIBERALISM, LOCAL POWER AND SUFFRAGE

2022

1996

City, reason and dream : between theory and utopia. — This paper aims at comparing two kinds of discourses about the city, that of the microeconomics of cities, which is admitted in the realm of science, and that of Utopian cities, which is not. We analyse the processes of thinking which lead respectively to theory and utopia, then we compare the ideas of man and society upon which they are grounded. Finaly, we try to enhance the similarities and disimilarities between the two series of urban space representations to which these approaches lead. This comparison may contribute to a better understanding of the real nature of the theoretical discourse and lead both to a relativization and a va…

Energy-aware design for wireless mesh networks

2014

International audience; Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) are the next step in the development of the wireless architecture, delivering wireless services for a large variety of users in personal, local, campus, and metropolitan areas. Energy efficiency solutions are becoming more vital for both local access networks and wireless networks and Green IT has attracted a considerable attention. However, the application of green network for wireless mesh networks has seldom been described in the literature. However, WMNs infrastructure devices are always active. Thus, during lower traffic periods the energy consumption is the same as in busy hours, while it would be possible to save a large amount of…

International audience; The Lead Weight from the Courtyard of the Lady of VixThe Mont Lassois near Vix, Dép. Côte d’Or, as well as the Heuneburg, counts as one of the best researched princelyseats in the early Celtic western Hallstatt zone. In 1953 the late Hallstatt grave of Vix was discovered. The old excavations(1930-1974) have been reactivated by the German-French research project »Celtic Princely Seats West of theRhine« (1991-1997) and the French PCR-project (Projet collectif de recherche) »Vix and its Environment« (since 2002)with the participation of the universities of Dijon, Kiel, Vienna and Zurich.
