CD1a expression by Barrett's metaplasia of gastric type may help to predict its evolution towards cancer

2005

As emerging in the recent literature, CD1a has been regarded as a molecule whose expression may reflect tumour evolution. The aim of the present work was to investigate the expression of CD1a in a series of Barrett's metaplasia (BM), gastric type (GTBM), with and without follow-up, in order to analyse whether its expression may help to diagnose this disease and to address the outcome. Indeed, GTBM may be confused sometimes with islets of ectopic gastric mucosa and its evolution towards dysplasia (Dy) or carcinoma (Ca) could not be foreseen. We showed a significant higher expression of CD1a in GTBM than in both Dy and Ca; nevertheless, the number of positive GTBM was significantly lower in t…

Quasi-Stationary Distribution and Gibbs Measure of Expanding Systems

1996

Let T be an expanding transformation defined on A —(J A{, i= 1being a finite collection of connected open bounded subsets of 2Rn,such that T Acontains strictly Aand Tis Markovian. We prove the existence of a quasi-stationary distrition for T. We show that the T-invariant probability on the limit Cantor set is Gibbsian with potential Log|_DT|. Using the Hilbert projective metric we prove that both distributions are weak limits of conditional laws of probabilities, the speed of convergence being exponential. These results develop a previous work by G. Pianigiani and J.A. Yorke.

The mixed capacitated general routing problem with turn penalties

2011

In this paper we deal with the mixed capacitated general routing problem with turn penalties. This problem generalizes many important arc and node routing problems, and it takes into account turn penalties and forbidden turns, which are crucial in many real-life applications, such as mail delivery, waste collection and street maintenance operations. Through a polynomial transformation of the considered problem into a Generalized Vehicle routing problem, we suggest a new approach for solving this new problem by transforming it into an Asymmetric Capacitated Vehicle routing problem. In this way, we can solve the new problem both optimally and heuristically using existing algorithms. A powerfu…

Cytotoxic effects and degradation products of three mycotoxins: Alternariol, 3-acetyl-deoxynivalenol and 15-acetyl-deoxynivalenol in liver hepatocell…

2015

This work is focused in studying the cytotoxic effects on HepG2 cells of the mycotoxins alternariol (AOH), 3-acetyl-deoxynivalenol (3-ADON) and 15-acetyl-deoxynivalenol (15-ADON) by the MTT assay, as well as in the identification of the degradation products and/or metabolites originated after treatment by liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) equipment and extracted from culture media. HepG2 cells were treated at different concentrations over 24, 48 and 72 h. The IC50 values were from 65 to 96 μM, from 3.6 to 6.2 μM and from 5.2 to 8.1 μM for AOH, 3-ADON and 15-ADON, respectively. Among all three mycotoxins assayed, deoxynivalenol (DON) derivated presented the highest to…

A Thermophilic Tetramolecular G-Quadruplex/Hemin DNAzyme.

2017

International audience; The quadruplex-based DNAzyme system is one of the most useful artificial enzymes or catalysts; their unique properties make them reliable alternatives to proteins for performing catalytic transformation. The first prototype of a thermally stable DNAzyme system is presented. This thermophilic DNAzyme is capable of oxidizing substrates at high temperatures (up to 95 degrees C) and long reaction times (up to 18 h at 75 degrees C). The catalytic activity of the DNAzymes were investigated with the standard peroxidase-mimicking oxidation of 2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiozoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) by H2O2. The step-by-step design of this unique heat-activated G-quadrup…

Rhodium (II) compounds with functionalized metalated phosphines as bridging ligands

2005

Abstract The reaction of Rh2(O2CCH3)4 · 2CH3OH with the phosphine P(4-BrC6H4)2(C6H5), 2, results in the formation of the monometalated compound Rh2(O2CCH3)3[PC] · 2CH3CO2H (PC representing a metalated P(4-BrC6H4)2(C6H5)). The reaction involves selective metalation of the phosphine at one Br-substituted ring (12:1 isomer ratio). The reaction of Rh2(O2CCH3)3[(4-BrC6H3)P(4-BrC6H4)(C6H5)] · 2CH3CO2H, 4, with one additional mol of triphenylphosphine yields a mixture of two main stereoisomers Rh2(O2CCH3)2[(4-BrC6H3)P(4-BrC6H4)(C6H5)] [(C6H4)P(C6H5)2] · 2CH3CO2H, 5a and 5b, that were isolated as pure compounds. These two compounds were resolved in the corresponding M and P enantiomers as trifluoro…

The cauchy problem for non-linear Klein-Gordon equations

1993

We consider in ℝ n+1,n≧2, the non-linear Klein-Gordon equation. We prove for such an equation that there is a neighbourhood of zero in a Hilbert space of initial conditions for which the Cauchy problem has global solutions and on which there is asymptotic completeness. The inverse of the wave operator linearizes the non-linear equation. If, moreover, the equation is manifestly Poincare covariant then the non-linear representation of the Poincare Lie algebra, associated with the non-linear Klein-Gordon equation is integrated to a non-linear representation of the Poincare group on an invariant neighbourhood of zero in the Hilbert space. This representation is linearized by the inverse of the …

Colon Cancer Stem Cells: Promise of Targeted Therapy

2010

First developed for hematologic disorders, the concept of cancer stem cells (CSCs) was expanded to solid tumors, including colorectal cancer (CRC). The traditional model of colon carcinogenesis includes several steps that occur via mutational activation of oncogenes and inactivation of tumor suppressor genes. Intestinal epithelial cells exist for a shorter amount of time than that required to accumulate tumor-inducing genetic changes, so researchers have investigated the concept that CRC arises from the long-lived stem cells, rather than from the differentiated epithelial cells. Colon CSCs were originally identified through the expression of the CD133 glycoprotein using an antibody directed…

[Post-translational regulation of N-glycosylated proteins expression in human intestinal cells in culture].

1991

International audience; HT-29 cells derived from a human colonic adenocarcinoma, can express a typical intestinal differentiation. Undifferentiated HT-29 cells accumulate N-linked glycoproteins substituted with unprocessed carbohydrate chains before to degrade them. Conversely, carbohydrate chains of N-linked glycoproteins are classically processed in differentiated HT-29 cells. The instability of N-linked glycoproteins in undifferentiated HT-29 cells is due to their rapid delivery from the endoplasmic reticulum to a compartment with lysosomal characteristics. This catabolitic pathway involves a bypass of the Golgi apparatus.
