Natural and human induced environmental changes preserved in a Holocene sediment sequence from the Etoliko Lagoon, Greece: New evidence from geochemi…

2013

Abstract A key feature of Greece is the large amount of historical and archaeological records. The sedimentary record of the Etoliko Lagoon, Aetolia, Western Greece, offers an ideal opportunity to study human–environment interaction and to disentangle natural and anthropogenic imprints in the sedimentary record. By applying an interdisciplinary approach of combining geoscientific methods (XRF, LOI, grain size analysis) with archaeological and historical records, the 8.8 m long sedimentary sequence ETO1C reveals the palaeoenvironmental history of the lagoon and its catchment since 11,670 cal BP. With a thorough chronology based on 14 C age-depth-modelling including varve counting, different …

Transgresión moral y enfermedad en los países nórdicos en la temprana Edad Moderna

2009

This article seeks to understand how people in the early modern age interpreted the nature of illness and the role that morality played in these interpretations. From this point of view illnesses were not only psycho-physical states or subjects for medical diagnosis but they were also subjects for narratives or stories through which people tried to understand what had caused their illness, and why it was happening to them. Illnesses were understood as strictly connected with the patient's character and were regarded as possible consequences of his personality. On the other hand, the interpretations also emphasised the ambivalence of a healer. Personal experiences and an understanding of one…

Femme et dame de courtoisie dans les manuscrits enluminés en France aux XIVe et XVe siècles

2019

With a corpus of one hundred and twenty-seven illuminations, from eighty-one manuscripts painted in France in the 14th and 15th centuries, my thesis examines the construction of the lady’s character, through the texts and the imagery.Between imagination and historical reality, we studying how the representations of this idealized figure, praised by troubadours and authors of the late Middle Ages, influence social relationship about the medieval noble woman. It is necessary to distinguish these feminine entities, one real, the other ideal, both sharing some similarities through the images. Our iconographic study is based on two main axes: social rituals and identity. This work uses the serial…

Le genre est-il un paradoxe? La transgression générique dans « 53 jours » de Georges Perec

2009

The Oulipian genre is characterized by the transgression of the canonical hierarchy of genres, imposing a set of constraints and writing techniques as the principles for the organization of the literary space. This hybrid generic "form", designated with the neologism "Oulipogenre", which subverts the traditional notion of genre. The Oulipogenre establishes a horizon of kinetic suspension, depriving the reader of identification and decodification of the genre. Founded on interpretative instability, George Perec's «53 jours» necessitates the acceptance of destabilization, of the cognitive "aberration" of the text. Le « genre » oulipien se signale par la transgression de la hiérarchisation can…

Nambu structures and super-theorem of Amitsur-Levitzki

2004

In this thesis, we establish new polynomial identities in a non commutative combinatorial framework. In the first part, we present new Nambu-Lie structures by classifying all (n-1)-structures in \R^n and we give a method for defining all-order brackets in Lie algebras. We are able to quantify one of our structures, thanks to standard polynomials and even Clifford algebras. In the second part of our work, we generalize the notion of standard polynomials to graded algebras, and we prove an Amitsur-Levitzki type theorem for the Lie superalgebras \osp(1,2n) inspired by Kostant's cohomological interpretation of the classical theorem. We give super versions of properties and results needed in Kos…

Nouvelles méthodes de traitement de signaux multidimensionnels par décomposition suivant le théorème de Superposition de Kolmogorov

2010

The processing of multidimensional signal remains difficult when using monodimensional-based methods. Therefore, it is either required to extend monodimensional methods to several dimensions, which is not always possible, or to convert the multidimensional signals into 1D signals. In this case, the priority is to preserve most of the properties of the original signal. In this context, the Kolmogorov Superposition Theorem offers a promising theoretical framework for multidimensional signal conversion. In 1957, Kolmogorov demonstrated that any multivariate function can be written as sums and compositions of monovariate functions. We have focused on the image decomposition according to the supe…

The representation of the women in Arrancame la vida and Mal de amores by Angeles Mastretta

2010

On the basis of two novels by Ángeles Mastretta, Arráncame la vida and Mal de amores - whose publication is separated by a ten years interval – I have attempted to show how the female character responds to a specific project of representation and writing. The present thesis emphasises both the variety of characters in the two novels and the constants that allow establishing a "system of characters" corresponding to the exploration of the subject matter dear to the novelist: the status of women in the society, their possibilities to act as well as the relationships they enter, which have a prominent place in Mastretta’s novels. The first part of this analysis underlines the supremacy of the …

The cinema of 'Eloy de la Iglesia : marginaliy and transgression

2014

Spanish director Eloy de la Iglesia (1944-2006) is the author of twenty-two feature films made between 1966 and 2003. His vast filmography covers a crucial period in the history of contemporary Spain, with which it is in constant dialogue. Acclaimed by audiences, Eloy de la Iglesia incurred the wrath of the Film Censorship Board (which kept a close watch on his work) and the hostility of many critics, including the most progressive ones, who inevitably rebuked him for opportunism, demagogy, excessive penchant for provocation and blatant bad taste. Our study focuses on his entire filmography and highlights its extreme internal coherence around two main axes: marginality and transgression. Al…
