Linear-non-linear digital control for dc/dc converters with fast transient response

A linear-non-linear digital control for multi-module DC/DC converters that improves system stability, solves the limit-cycle problem, reduces recovery time and limits over- and under-shoots in regulated output voltage, is presented. A simulation model in Matlab-Simulink/Active-HDL mixed environment is described. Preliminary hardware tests on a single-phase step-down converter are reported. Simulation and experimental results are shown.
Novel Wood Resistance Measurement Method Reducing the Initial Transient Instabilities Arising in DC Methods Due to Polarization Effects

A novel method for measuring the electrical resistance in wood is presented. It is based on applying an Alternating Current (AC) to two electrodes rammed into the wood. The method reduces the transient time for value stabilization. In case of Direct Current (DC) resistance measurement methods, typically used in wood measurement, an initial transient exists, invalidating the measured value during an initial transient period. This measurement method uses an electronic circuit based on a relaxation oscillator where the wood automatically sets the oscillation frequency depending on its electrical resistance. Time evolution of the microwave second-order response of YBaCuO powder

Transient effects in the microwave second-order response of YBaCuO powder are investigated. The time evolution of the second harmonic signal has been measured for about 300 s after the sample had been exposed to variations of the DC magnetic field. We show that in different time scales the transient response has different origin. In the time scale of milliseconds the transient response of samples in the critical state is ascribable to processes of flux redistribution induced by the switching on/off of the microwave field. Extended fractional-order Jeffreys model of viscoelastic hydraulic cylinder

A novel modeling approach for viscoelastic hydraulic cylinders, with negligible inertial forces, is proposed, based on the extended fractional-order Jeffreys model. Analysis and physical reasoning for the parameter constraints and order of the fractional derivatives are provided. Comparison between the measured and computed frequency response functions and time domain transient response argues in favor of the proposed four-parameter fractional-order model.

A tremendous amount of effort has been dedicated to unravel the functional neuroanatomy of the processing and regulation of emotion, resulting in a well-described picture of limbic, para-limbic and prefrontal regions involved.
