Presumably ribosome and transfer RNA (tRNA) evolved from a pre-existing function in the RNA stage of life and were secondarily adapted for protein synthesis. Various possible initial functions of the primitive ribosome (protoribosome) have been suggested. The initial function of the primitive ribosome and primitive genetic translation would have been quite similar. It is possible that, initially, both functions coexisted in the protoribosome. Given that the three-dimensional structure of ribosomal RNAs shows only minor variations throughout time, it is, then, most likely that present ribosomes can still recall (remember) the most important parts of the mechanism of their initial function. In this paper we show how to construct a certain class of orthonormal bases in starting from one or more Gabor orthonormal bases in . Each such basis can be obtained acting on a single function with a set of unitary operators which operate as translation and modulation operators in suitable variables. The same procedure is also extended to frames and wavelets. Many examples are discussed.

Geometric deformation measurement and correction applied to dynamic streak camera images

The complete procedure of measuring and correcting geometric deformations encountered with dynamic streak camera images in the picosecond range is presented and discussed. First, we describe the experimental setup derived from the well known spacing calibration grid method. The implemented measurement bench, adapted to time-resolved 1D imaging, notably exhibits a great accuracy and repeatability both in space and time thanks to a three-axis motorized translation stage and programmable delay lines. Audiovisual texts possess characteristics that clearly differentiate audiovisual translation from both oral and written translation, and prospective screen translators are usually taught about the issues that typically arise in audiovisual translation. En aquest treball es descriu una experiència pedagògica consistent en la introducció del *portafolio com a eina d'aprenentatge i avaluació en un curs universitari de traducció. La descripció es basa en dades arreplegades durant dos anys i en els resultats d'un qüestionari administrat als participants. Després d'una breu contextualització de l'experiència i la reflexió sobre els aspectes més rellevants del *portafolio per a l'ensenyament de la traducció, específicament en la universitat, s'ofereix una descripció exhaustiva dels efectes positius de la utilització de l'instrument en el curs. El treball acaba amb una valoració de l'experiència per part dels participants.
