Na+ -dependent neutral amino acid transporters A, ASC, and N of the blood-brain barrier: mechanisms for neutral amino acid removal.
2004
Four Na+-dependent transporters of neutral amino acids (NAA) are known to exist in the abluminal membranes (brain side) of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). This article describes the kinetic characteristics of systems A, ASC, and N that, together with the recently described Na+-dependent system for large NAA (Na+-LNAA), provide a basis for understanding the functional organization of the BBB. The data demonstrate that system A is voltage dependent (3 positive charges accompany each molecule of substrate). Systems ASC and N are not voltage dependent. Each NAA is a putative substrate for at least one system, and several NAA are transported by as many as three. System A transports Pro, Ala, His,…
Study regarding the improvement of the postage transport system in the city of Sibiu
2021
This paper presents a study on the improvement of postal system in the city of Sibiu where there are a number of three post offices that serve a number of eight counters, to which are added the distribution point and the collection point. Each post office has a well-established work schedule that differs from one office to another. The transport of postal items between the counters / post offices within the municipality of Sibiu and the collection office, must be done on a certain route, in order to respect the work schedule of each office and to take into account a number of restriction factors. In order to streamline the process of collecting and distributing postal items in Sibiu, 6 rout…
Deploying harmonized ITS services in the framework of EasyWay project
2012
In the last decade, the use of new technologies in the transportation domain has made possible the development of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS). However, the ITS services were deployed isolated. The purpose of the EasyWay Project is to involve all the European countries to deploy harmonized ITS services taking into account the European citizen as final In this paper, an introduction of EasyWay project is done, including the ITS concept services and the Deployment Guidelines. A deployment guideline for traffic management and corridors is presented. Using this guideline, a real Spanish Traffic management Plan is analyzed.
Btn2p is involved in ethanol tolerance and biofilm formation in flor yeast
2008
Flor yeasts are a particular kind of Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains involved in Sherry wine biological ageing. During this process, yeasts form a film on the wine surface and use ethanol as a carbon source, producing acetaldehyde as a by-product. Acetaldehyde induces BTN2 transcription in laboratory strains. Btn2p is involved in the control of the subcellular localization of different proteins. The BTN2 gene shows a complex expression pattern in wine yeast, increasing its expression by acetaldehyde, but repressing it by ethanol. A flor yeast strain transcribes more BTN2 than a first fermentation yeast during growth, but less under different stress conditions. BTN2 deletion decreases flor …
PARKING PRICING FOR A SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT SYSTEM
2014
The purpose of this study has been to develop a model to designing an efficient parking pricing policy. The aim is an intelligent control and management system of parking pricing integrated with a redefinition of the circulation scheme to define a limited traffic zone in the central business district of Palermo. The transport demand over the entire area of the town has been studied in order to design various parking pricing scenarios with the application of an additional cost on parking inside the selected area of the CBD. This area attracts most of the private vehicular traffic and it is characterized by university faculties, schools, hospitals, offices and commercial areas. The optimal ho…
A methodology to improve public transport system
2012
The quality of pedestrian routes of access to public transport system (PTS) is an important aspect for the choice of transport mode, that can be evaluated also using some indicators as accessibility, comfort, frequency, etc... The policies for urban sustainable mobility must reflect the design and management of mass transit systems, but also the judgment of users in term of quality and perception of PTS. The purpose is reassess slow mobility encouraging the intermodal mobility between pedestrian and public transport. So the walking can be considered as alternative mode of urban transport and a moment of break from the chaos of modern life. It’s role should be considered as an important elem…

SNAT2 silencing prevents the osmotic induction of transport system A and hinders cell recovery from hypertonic stress.
2005
AbstractUnder hypertonic conditions the induction of SLC38A2/SNAT2 leads to the stimulation of transport system A and to the increase in the cell content of amino acids. In hypertonically stressed human fibroblasts transfection with two siRNAs for SNAT2 suppressed the increase in SNAT2 mRNA and the stimulation of system A transport activity. Under the same condition, the expansion of the intracellular amino acid pool was significantly lowered and cell volume recovery markedly delayed. It is concluded that the up-regulation of SNAT2 is essential for the rapid restoration of cell volume after hypertonic stress.
Between the Megalopolis and the Deep Blue Sky: Challenges of Transport with UAVs in Future Smart Cities
2019
International audience; With the rapid increase of the world's urban population, the infrastructure of the constantly expanding metropolitan areas is undergoing an immense pressure. To meet the growing demands of sustainable urban environments and improve the quality of life for citizens, municipalities will increasingly rely on novel transport solutions. In particular, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are expected to have a crucial role in the future smart cities thanks to their interesting features such as autonomy, flexibility, mobility, adaptive altitude, and small dimensions. However, densely populated megalopolises of the future are administrated by several municipals, governmental and…
Management of intelligent transport systems applied to sustainable development of motor vehicle transports
2021
The scientific paper presents a concrete research carried out by the authors in order to implement technical concepts, so that those interested in this field can learn about a certain way of exposing the problems with regard to the sustainable development of road transport. The use of computer means in the field of motor vehicle transport have taken on a special magnitude in recent times, and the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), also known as telematics systems used in the field of transport, comprise a wide range of tools and services deriving from ITS technologies, by using communications and information technology. Below we present a technical and managerial study with engineering nu…
