Anisotropic potential of velocity fields in real fluids: Application to the MAST solution of shallow water equations

2013

In the present paper it is first shown that, due to their structure, the general governing equations of uncompressible real fluids can be regarded as an "anisotropic" potential flow problem and closed streamlines cannot occur at any time. For a discretized velocity field, a fast iterative procedure is proposed to order the computational elements at the beginning of each time level, allowing a sequential solution element by element of the advection problem. Some closed circuits could appear due to the discretization error and the elements involved in these circuits could not be ordered. We prove in the paper that the total flux of these not ordered elements goes to zero by refining the compu…

Full configuration interaction calculation of Be3.

2004

The full configuration interaction (FCI) study of the ground state of the neutral beryllium trimer has been performed using an atomic natural orbitals [3s2p1d] basis set. Both triangular and linear structures have been considered for the Be(3) cluster. The optimal geometry for the equilateral triangle has been calculated. The potential energy cut sections along the normal a(1)(') mode and one of the components of the e(') mode have then been studied. The FCI symmetric atomization potential of the linear cluster is also reported. It shows a secondary van der Waals minimum at a long bond distance. All singular points in the potential energy curves are characterized. Other properties, like dis…

An Approximating-Interpolatory Subdivision Scheme.

2011

International audience; In the last decade, study and construction of quad/triangle subdivision schemes have attracted attention. The quad/triangle subdivision starts with a control mesh consisting of both quads and triangles and produces ner and ner meshes with quads and triangles (Fig. 1). Design- ers often want to model certain regions with quad meshes and others with triangle meshes to get better visual qual- ity of subdivision surfaces. Smoothness analysis tools exist for regular quad/triangle vertices. Moreover C1 and C2 quad/triangle schemes (for regular vertices) have been con- structed. But to our knowledge, there are no quad/triangle schemes that uni es approximating and interpola…

Study and construction of the quasi-linear subdivision schemes over bi-regular meshs

2012

Subdivision schemes are commonly used to generate a smooth shape from a much more coarseone. The reverse subdivision is designed to describe a high resolution mesh from a coarse one. Bothof these tools are used in numerous graphical modelisation domains. In this thesis, we focused ontwo distinct aspects: on one hand the construction of quasi-linear subdivision schemes and on theother hand the construction of reverse quad/triangle subdivision schemes. The work, presented inthe context of the subdivision, describes the construction of a new type of subdivision schemes, andtheirs applications to solve some problems coming from the application of linear subdivision schemes. The work presented in…

Exact Voronoi diagram of smooth convex pseudo-circles: General predicates, and implementation for ellipses

2013

International audience; We examine the problem of computing exactly the Voronoi diagram (via the dual Delaunay graph) of a set of, possibly intersecting, smooth convex \pc in the Euclidean plane, given in parametric form. Pseudo-circles are (convex) sites, every pair of which has at most two intersecting points. The Voronoi diagram is constructed incrementally. Our first contribution is to propose robust and efficient algorithms, under the exact computation paradigm, for all required predicates, thus generalizing earlier algorithms for non-intersecting ellipses. Second, we focus on \kcn, which is the hardest predicate, and express it by a simple sparse $5\times 5$ polynomial system, which a…

Suppliers’ software development project start-up practices

2017

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a life cycle phase of a software development project which is substantial for the success of the project. This paper visualizes the project start-up phase from suppliers’ perspective. Design/methodology/approach The method is a theory building from case studies. The data were collected from three software supplier firms by conducting process modeling separately in each firm. Findings The study resulted in a model of a supplier’s software project start-up which includes start-up practices and involved roles. The results indicate that project start-up is an integral and structured phase of project life cycle, which influences the execution of a…

The horospherical Gauss-Bonnet type theorem in hyperbolic space

2006

We introduce the notion horospherical curvatures of hypersurfaces in hyperbolic space and show that totally umbilic hypersurfaces with vanishing cur- vatures are only horospheres. We also show that the Gauss-Bonnet type theorem holds for the horospherical Gauss-Kronecker curvature of a closed orientable even dimensional hypersurface in hyperbolic space. + (i1) by using the model in Minkowski space. We introduced the notion of hyperbolic Gauss indicatrices slightly modified the definition of hyperbolic Gauss maps. The notion of hyperbolic indicatrices is independent of the choice of the model of hyperbolic space. Using the hyperbolic Gauss indicatrix, we defined the principal hyperbolic curv…

Existence of a traveling wave solution in a free interface problem with fractional order kinetics

2021

Abstract In this paper we consider a system of two reaction-diffusion equations that models diffusional-thermal combustion with stepwise ignition-temperature kinetics and fractional reaction order 0 α 1 . We turn the free interface problem into a scalar free boundary problem coupled with an integral equation. The main intermediary step is to reduce the scalar problem to the study of a non-Lipschitz vector field in dimension 2. The latter is treated by qualitative topological methods based on the Poincare-Bendixson Theorem. The phase portrait is determined and the existence of a stable manifold at the origin is proved. A significant result is that the settling time to reach the origin is fin…
