INTRODUZIONE: Nonostante i progressi nelle strategie terapeutiche e il conseguente miglioramento della sopravvivenza, i tumori infantili rappresentano un importante problema di salute pubblica. È stato effettuato un confronto tra l’incidenza dei tumori infantili (0-14 anni) e degli adolescenti (15-19 anni) nelle province di Palermo e di Caltanissetta, nel periodo 2007-2012. The impact of early exposure to endocrine disruptor mixtures on mammary gland development is poorly known. Here, we identify the effects of a conception to weaning exposure of rats to the phytoestrogen genistein (G) and/or the antiandrogen vinclozolin (V) at 1 mg/kg-d, alone or in association. Using several approaches, we found that G- and GV-exposed rats displayed significantly greater epithelial branching and proliferation, wider terminal end buds than controls at PND35, as well as ductal hyperplasia and periductal fibrosis. : Among all cancers, colorectal cancer (CRC) is the 3rd most common and the 2nd leading cause of death worldwide. New therapeutic strategies are required to target cancer stem cells (CSCs), a subset of tumor cells highly resistant to present-day therapy and responsible for tumor relapse. CSCs display dynamic genetic and epigenetic alterations that allow quick adaptations to perturbations.
