Role of para-linguistic organizers in dealing with electronic documents

This thesis aims at studying the role of para-linguistic organizers used to design technical texts on screen. We are focusing on text setting devices, especially the parenthesis, the footnotes, the more explicit text type statements (such as «Example : » before a text part) and the pop-up windows. Methods of experimental psychology were used in order to analyse written texts and also to study the influence of para-linguistic organizers on the reading process (memorisation and information retrieval). Typology and Representation of Alterations in Territorial Units: A Proposal

Abstract This article proposes a typology of boundary changes in territorial units at two points in time. The different types of changes are organized in a hierarchy and represented homogeneously, independently of the number of territorial units involved and of the changes to them. Each alteration is described precisely and unambiguously, and it is codified to allow the information to be treated automatically. In addition to providing efficient storage of the information about these changes, a canonical representation facilitates the automatic detection of inconsistencies in the database. The aim of the present article is to present the typology of listening comprehension skills activated during Polish language lessons. What the author claims is that in Polish school two types of listening co-exist, namely: natural and activated. The former resembles conditions of natural communication, since a student assumes the role of text recipient, whereas the latter is a process of teaching the skills of listening comprehension. Based on questions and instructions elicited from selected school handbooks shows in what way the activated type of listening comprehension is taught as a part of Polish as a mother tongue lessons.

Zastosowanie metodyki audytu krajobrazowego do identyfikacji krajobrazów w skali lokalnej na przykładzie gminy Szczyrk

W artykule przedstawiono wyniki identyfikacji i oceny krajobrazów gminy Szczyrk. W badaniach zastosowano metodę audytu krajobrazowego i trzy kryteria delimitacji: ukształtowanie terenu, kompozycję przestrzenną oraz pokrycie terenu. Badania prowadzono na obszarze górskim, gdzie dotychczas metoda nie była testowana. Stwierdzono występowanie 58 jednostek krajobrazowych należących do 13 typów. Powierzchniowo dominują krajobrazy leśne. Układ jednostek nawiązuje do pięter klimatyczno-roślinnych. Wraz ze zwiększaniem skali badań maleją powierzchnie jednostek, nie maleje znacząco ich liczba.
