The aim of this article is to bring philosophical thinking closer to practice-based empirical work. Using Martin Heidegger’s philosophy, it offers a bridge between these two worlds, attempting to provide philosophical depth to the findings of a hermeneutic phenomenological study. This process unfolded through the appearance of three intertwined, potential, meaningful modes of being in the lifeworld: space as a condition for being and being for worlding the world; temporal and spatial self-being, the existence of multiple selves in time and space; and suffering and thriving as modes of being. Meaningfulness in the work of language professionals

This qualitative study explores the changes that a specific group of knowledge workers – language professionals in Finland – have undergone in their work and how they perceive the meaningfulness of their work as a result. The data presented in this article has been collected through group interviews and is part of a larger data set. To make sense of our data, we use thematic analysis and the framework of meaningful work presented by Rosso et al. For some of our research participants, the factors of meaningful work are present. Affective familiarity and the experience of home : a phenomenological exploration

This paper provides a phenomenological analysis of the emotional aspects of the experience of home. Researchers have studied home from several perspectives, but there is a need for a detailed phenomenological analysis of the emotional intentionality which underlies the meanings and experiences of home as an emotionally charged place. This paper provides novel conceptual tools for understanding the interrelation between home and its inhabitant’s personal identity by introducing the concept of ”feeling of ownness”. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää ikääntyvien yli 65-vuotiaiden henkilöiden liikun-nan harrastamista ja siinä tapahtuvia muutoksia kohortti- ja seuruututkimuksen avulla. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin sosiaalisen ja fyysisen lähiympäristön yhteyttä iäkkäiden henkilöiden fyysiseen ak-tiivisuuteen ja liikuntaharrastukseen. Tutkimus on osa Jyväskylässä vuosina 1988–2004 toteutet-tua Ikivihreät – projektia. Aineisto kerättiin strukturoidulla haastattelulla. Kohorttihaastatteluihin osallistui 80 % (n=362) 65–69-vuotiasta jyväskyläläistä vuonna 1988, 79 % (n=320) vuonna 1996 ja 73 % (n=292) vuonna 2004.
