This research examined the joint effects of parenting and the temperamental characteristics of children on their social-emotional development during their early school years. Three studies, focusing on different aspects of social-emotional development as well as on different temperamental characteristics, were carried out. The first study investigated the extent to which mothers' and fathers' parenting styles differently impact their children's social-emotional development, based on the children's tendency to show signs of social withdrawal. Ujous musiikintunneilla : opettajien ja 4.- ja 7.-luokkalaisten oppilaiden kokemuksia

Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, miten ujous ilmenee peruskoulun musiikintunneilla. Tutkimuksessa kartoitettiin, miten oppilaat käsittävät ja kokevat ujouden, millaista toimintaa ujot oppilaat toivovat musiikintunneille ja mistä tilanteista ja toiminnasta ujot oppilaat pitävät vähiten musiikintunneilla. Lisäksi haluttiin saada selville, millaisia kokemuksia opettajilla on oppilaiden ujoudesta. Opettajien näkemyksiä verrattiin oppilaiden lomake- ja haastatteluvastauksiin. Tutkimus toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena tapaustutkimuksena. Aineisto kerättiin kahdessa osassa. Ensin molempien tutkimukseen osallistuneiden luokkien oppilaat täyttivät kyselylomakkeen.
