La part des cotisations dans le budget des confédérations syndicales

2012

The paper analyses the budget of the seven French trade union confederations (CGT, CFDT, FO, CFTC, CGC, and USS UNSA). Since 2011, these organizations are obliged to publish their budgets according to the principle of transparency. The main purpose was to give the members' dues the higher weight in the total of the trade union budgets. Each organization has defined its reporting entity in terms of this issue. They did "derive" at the federal level the maximum members' contributions - even when these contributions were not intended to the federal level - and they housed most grants and subsidies in satellites outside their perimeter. Finally, the staffs made available, free of charge, to the…

Discordances entre mémoire et histoire. Un exemple : le congrès d'Amiens (1906)

2012

Memory and history are sometimes a strange couple. A striking illustration is given by the French Unionism in the twentieth century. Some events - 1906, 1920, 1936, 1947, 1968 ... - are engraved in the "memories" and they have founded a collective identity. However, taking the example of the CGT Congress of Amiens in 1906, several dimensions - a priori essential - of this "memory" can be discussed: the importance of the strike, the relationship between parties and unions, the historical weakness of the French unionism. Historical data are not consistent with these representations usually carried about French unionism before 1914. One can wonder : would not it be the same discordance about t…

Form Currency Unions to a World Currency: A Possibility?

2007

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the main macroeconomic determinants of benefits and costs by undertaking processes of monetary integration and to investigate the possibility that currency unions could lead to the creation of a global currency in the future. In particular, we will consider two main determinants of costs and benefits predicted by the theory of Optimum Currency Areas: (i) the business-cycle correlation between the candidate’s economy and that of the currency zone as a whole, and (ii) the candidate economy’s inflation gain. Using this methodology, the results of the paper provide empirical evidence of the existence of several optimal currency areas in the world. Moreove…

"Hyvät käytännöt ovat hyviä iästä riippumatta!" Työmarkkinajärjestöjen ikääntyviä työntekijöitä koskevan politiikan ja käytäntöjen vertailu

2012

Näyttää siltä, että työmarkkinajärjestöjen aktiivinen ikäpolitiikka on keskittynyt lähinnä eläkepolitiikkaa koskeviin kysymyksiin. Vaikka koulutukseen, osaamiseen ja urakehitykseen liittyvä elinikäisen oppimisen politiikka on työmarkkinajärjestöjen toiminnassa myös keskeisesti läsnä, on se tapahtunut ikäpolitiikasta erillään. nonPeerReviewed

R&D networks among unionized firms

2005

We develop a model of strategic networks in order to analyze how trade unions will affect the stability and efficiency of R&D collaboration networks in an oligopolistic industry with three firms. Whenever firms settle wages, the complete network is always pairwise stable and the partially connected network is stable if and only if spillovers are large enough. If spillovers are small, the complete network is the efficient network; otherwise, the efficient network is the partially connected network. Thus, a conflict between stability and efficiency may occur: efficient networks are pairwise stable, but the reverse is not true. Strong stability even reinforces this conflict. However, once unio…

Economics of wage premia and wage rigidity

2017

The focus of this dissertation is on the effects of specific employer characteristics on wages and wage rigidity and how these characteristics enter the wage-setting process. The dissertation includes an introductory chapter and five separate essays. The introduction provides motivation, background on the main keywords and an overview of the thesis. Chapters two and three study how internal references affect wages and wage rigidity from a theoretical perspective. The fourth chapter estimates the effect of firm size on wages in the Finnish labor market. Chapter five develops on the preceding and analyses how profit sharing schemes affect the firm size premium. Chapter six studies how interna…

Agency of labour in a flexible pan-European labour market : a qualitative study of migrant practices and trade union strategies in the Netherlands

2015

Regulatory frameworks on intra-EU mobility and flexible cross-border employment relations have stimulated competition on labour costs by recruiting migrants via cheaper labour market regimes. While it allows firms to remunerate migrants under different terms and conditions, blurring regulatory boundaries also generates opportunities for non-compliance, resulting in violations of migrant labour rights across Europe. Against this background, this thesis explores the agency of labour, more specifically of temporary migrant workers and unions, and the ways they cope with and respond to the competitive dynamics of the pan- European labour market. This study draws on 90 qualitative interviews wit…

The role of the agreement as a tool for management of property relations in cases of cross border marriages and civil unions/partnerships registered …

2021

The essay examines the role of the agreement as a tool for managing property relationships in crossborder marriages and registered partnerships, in light of EU Regulations 1103 and 1104 of 2016, on the property regimes of international married or registered couples. The main prerogative of such acts is the recognition of the parties? freedom to choose the court and the applicable law. The law governing the matrimonial property regimes, or the property consequences of registered partnerships, has universal scope. This agreement in the form envisaged, which is backed by the need for legal certainty and predictability of the applicable rules, means that the spouses, in family problems which ha…

Modele eklezjalnej jedności chrześcijan

2018
