Scientific studies for the restauration of two wooden arm reliquaries from the Cathedral of Palermo
2017
Dedicated to Saint Generosi and Saint Rosana, the reliquary arms, recalling the shape of a body part, are today located in the Relics Chapel in Palermo Cathedral. They are probably dated to the second half of the 18th century and are attributed to an unknown artist. The aims of this study were to investigate the decorative techniques, verify the state of conservation of the constitutive materials, measure the microclimate condition in the Relics Chapel, in order to set up a correct preventive conservation strategy. In this regard, an integrated scientific investigation was performed focusing on environmental monitoring (thermo-hygrometric parameters) by HOBO system, characterization of mate…
Taloushallinto suomalaisissa urheiluseuroissa : kyselytutkimus seurojen puheenjohtajille
2016
Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on kuvata taloushallinnon nykytilaa suomalaisissa yhdistysmuotoisissa urheiluseuroissa. Kuten muissakin voittoa t…
Changes in Liikunnan Riemu's football team's cohesion during EUSA Games in Rotterdam
2016
The aim of this study was to examine Liikunnan Riemu’s football team’s changes in cohesion during European Universities Sports Association Games in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The basis for this study was to quantitatively examine cohesion using Carron’s and his colleagues (1985) developed Group Environmental Questionnaire for sport teams. The GEQ is divided into four dimensions which describe cohesion more accurately. High cohesion has been shown to lead to success in sports and vice versa (Carron et al. 2002; Rovio 2009; Voight & Callaghan 2001). The participants were students from University of Jyväskylä, mostly from the department of Sport Science. Altogether 26 answers were collected. The …

Physical activity change and stability patterns from adolescence to early adulthood : how activity domains and sedentary behaviour are associated wit…
2022
Background Longitudinal studies demonstrate that physical activity (PA) declines on average from adolescence to early adulthood. However, some subgroups of adolescents increase activity while others decrease or maintain high or low activity. Determinants of change or maintenance of (in)activity may differ between subgroups and are valuable information for targeted health promotion. The purpose of this study was to identify PA patterns from adolescence to early adulthood, and also to explore how different activity domains and Sedentary Behaviour (SB) are associated with PA patterns. Methods The data of this observational cohort study (collected in 2013/2014 and 2017/2018) consisted of 254 Fi…

Inferring phytoplankton community composition with a fatty acid mixing model
2015
Abstract. The taxon specificity of fatty acid composition in algal classes suggests that fatty acids could be used as chemotaxonomic markers for phytoplankton composition. The applicability of phospholipid-derived fatty acids as chemotaxonomic markers for phytoplankton composition was evaluated by using a Bayesian fatty acid-based mixing model. Fatty acid profiles from monocultures of chlorophytes, cyanobacteria, diatoms, euglenoids, dinoflagellates, raphidophyte, cryptophytes and chrysophytes were used as a reference library to infer phytoplankton community composition in five moderately humic, large boreal lakes in three different seasons (spring, summer and fall). The phytoplankton commu…
