Abstract Objective: The aim of the study was to examine the associations of sports video gaming behaviour in the sociological concept of Physical Activity Relationships (PAR) and to see if sports video gaming differs by gender. Methods: A convenience sample of children between 11–12 years of age (n = 114) from three Finnish regions completed a questionnaire on perceptions of their video gaming and physical activity habits. The focus of this research is to make an analysis of the experiences of Xbox Kinect Zumba game players in correlation to the real Zumba classes. Through the observation of the Zumba game, specifically using the Xbox Kinect motion detection technology, the researcher intends to create a user experience similar to the real classroom experience and/or create a situation pleasant enough to interest the subjects in real Zumba classes or further game playing, despite of their preconceptions about the game/activity. Digital sports games and their players : playing motivations and player's assessment of the effects of playing

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli määrittää digitaalisten liikuntapelien pelaajien pelaamisen motiiveja sekä syitä pelata digitaalisia liikuntapelejä. Tämän lisäksi tarkoituksena oli selvittää pelaamisen seurauksia pelaajille. Erityisen tärkeää oli analysoida pelaajien henkilökohtaisia kokemuksia pelaamisen vaikutuksista kehoon ja jokapäiväiseen elämään. Tämä laadullinen tutkimus perustuu kahdeksan hengen kyselyn vastauksiin. Strukturoidut kyselyt analysoitiin ja niiden perusteella muodostettiin neljä eri digitaalisten liikuntapelien pelaajaprofiilia.
