NFC-maksaminen : mahdollisuudet ja haasteet käyttäjän näkökulmasta
2013
Mobiilit päätelaitteet ja niitä käyttävien kuluttajien määrä on lisääntynyt nopeasti viime vuosien aikana, mikä tuo uusia mahdollisuuksia erilaisille mobiilin maksamisen sovelluksille. Tässä tutkielmassa paneuduttiin kirjallisuuskatsauksen avulla Near Field Communication -teknologian eli NFC:n ominaisuuksiin sekä NFC-maksamiseen liittyvien mahdollisuuksien ja haasteiden erityispiirteisiin käyttäjän näkökulmasta. Tutkimustuloksina todettiin NFC-maksamisella olevan huomattava määrä kehittäjiä ja muita tukijoita takanaan, mikä edesauttaa nopeaa teknologista kehitystä. NFC:llä vaikuttaisikin olevan hyvät mahdollisuudet kilpailla muiden elektronisten maksutapojen kanssa. NFC-maksamisen helppous …
The Perceived Role of Technology in Career Guidance among Practitioners Who are Experienced Internet Users
2011
The increasing use of technology is placing new demands on career guidance practitioners. This article examines what changes, if any, have occurred in the perceptions of guidance practitioners regarding their role and the role of the internet in meeting guidance goals and delivering career guidance services. The data were collected in focus groups in 2001–2002 and a follow-up study in 2010. A total of seven focus groups were held. The data were analysed using combined methods. The results indicated that practitioners now observe that the need for differentiated service delivery modes is more explicit due to varied levels of readiness in decision-making and ICT literacy.
Alcohol-impaired Walking in 16 Countries: A Theory-Based Investigation.
2021
Alcohol is a global risk factor for road trauma. Although drink driving has received most of the scholarly attention, there is growing evidence of the risks of alcohol-impaired walking. Alcohol-impaired pedestrians are over-represented in fatal crashes compared to non-impaired pedestrians. Additionally, empirical evidence shows that alcohol intoxication impairs road-crossing judgements. Besides some limited early research, much is unknown about the global prevalence and determinants of alcohol-impaired walking. Understanding alcohol-impaired walking will support health promotion initiatives and injury prevention. The present investigation has three aims: (1) compare the prevalence of alcoho…
Analysis of documentary and terminological needs of doctors and medical translators as a basis for the development of a next-generation multilingual …
2014
The objective of this study is to develop a multilingual lexicographical resource aimed at doctors and medi…
Location of navigation menus in websites: an experimental study with Arabic users
2015
Published online: 31 October 2015 While Arabic users represent by far the fastest growing language population on the Internet, research about how the peculiarities of Arabic language may shape users’ web interactions is still scarce. The preferences of Arabic users for menu location in websites have been studied. Two competing arguments have been proposed regarding the best location of menus in websites: conventional design (navigation menu should be placed on that side where users expect it based on previous experience) and reading direction (navigation menu should be placed on that side where readers are used to start off reading, so that the navigation menu is likely to be attended first…

Factorial Structure of Web-Credibility in a population of Italian Internet Users. A pilot study
2009
Recent studies by Fogg and his colleagues have defined a new psychological construct called Web credibility. It describes the principal dimensions which lead people to believe (or not) online information. In this framework, the factorial structure of Web credibility was explored in a sample of 152 Italian students of psychology who were Internet users, using a questionnaire. A consistent four-factorial structure emphasized crucial aspects of Web credibility, namely, Inaccuracy, Efficiency, Social Validation, and Commercial Features. Such results seem in line with Fogg's theoretical model; however, further research is required to identify dimensions of this construct.
