Demokratian kehitys on huolestuttanut suomalaisia pitkään. Teacher ability evaluation and changes in elementary student profiles of motivation and performance in mathematics

Abstract The aim of this person-centered study is to identify the profiles of interest value, self-concept, and performance in the domain of mathematics among elementary school students and to examine the stability and changes in these profiles from grade 1 to grade 2. Teacher-reported evaluations of students' mathematical ability and gender were examined as predictors of changes in the student profiles. The sample consisted of 237 students (46.8% girls). A garnet with interesting optical properties is synthesized by means of the ceramic method and the formation of gels. Colloidal silica or tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) is used as a starting reagent in the latter method of synthesis, together with nitrate and chloride salts of the remaining components. Use is made of ultraviolet-visible and infrared spectroscopy techniques and X-ray diffraction in studying the evolution of the system. Formation of the garnet phase at lower temperatures is observed when using the gel methods, as well as the absence of chromates during the process in the samples which contained chlorides.

Conjugate vaccines using diphtheria toxoid variant (CRM(197)), diphtheria toxoid and tetanus toxoid (TT) as carrier protein may induce immune interactions (interference or impairment as measured by lower antibody levels, or enhancement [higher antibody levels]) when coadministered with other vaccines. Immune enhancement occurs when two TT conjugates are coadministered. CRM(197) conjugate vaccines induce immune bystander interference when given with diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis vaccines, which reduces responses to coadministered Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine conjugated to TT. Tässä opinnäytetyössä tarkastellaan Diracin yhtälön numeerista ratkaisemista sekä tähän liittyviä haasteita. Diracin yhtälö on keskeinen kvanttifysiikan ilmiöitä kuvaava yhtälö, jonka ratkaisemiseen on esitetty kirjallisuudessa useita erilaisia menetelmiä. Tässä opinnäytetyössä keskitytään tarkastelemaan menetelmää, jossa yhtälön ratkaisemiseen sovelletaan operaattorinjakoa ja karakteristista menetelmää. Older adults (> or =65 years of age) are particularly vulnerable to influenza illness. This is due to a waning immune system that reduces their ability to respond to infection, which leads to more severe cases of disease. The majority ( approximately 90%) of influenza-related deaths occur in older adults and, in addition, catastrophic disability resulting from influenza-related hospitalization represents a significant burden in this vulnerable population. Tutkimuksessa selvitetään minkälaista huumoria Disneyn vuonna 2013 ilmestyneessä animaatioelokuvassa Frozen – Huurteinen seikkailu käytetään. Aineistona on suomenkielinen käännösversio. Aihe on mielenkiintoinen muun muassa sen vuoksi, että vaikka Disney-tutkimusta on aikaisemmin tehty paljon ja myös huumoria on näissä tarkasteltu, niin tuoreimmista elokuvista ja paljon puhuttaneesta Frozenista ei ole tältä osin juurikaan tutkimustietoa. Aqueous solutions of sodium pyruvate/hydrochloric acid mixtures were studied with regard to changes in the intensity of optical absorption at 317 nm wavelength, caused by varying pH and temperature. The data were evaluated to determine the pyruvic acid apparent dissociation constant at infinite dilution. Its temperature dependence followed the relation ln Kod = −(0.55 ± 0.47) − (1538 ± 135)/T or, if previous results of Pedersen at two temperatures are included, In Kod = −(0.97 ± 0.35) − (1418 ± 102)T.
