Witnessing the experience of European bordering : watching the documentary Under den samme himmel in an immigration detention centre

This article draws on theories of bordering and mediated witnessing to examine a documentary film that mediates migrants’ experiences of bordering in Europe. My analysis of Under den samme himmel/Days of Hope shows how the film captures the multiplicity of bordering practices, from geographical to socio-cultural borderings. The analysis is informed by watching and discussing the film in an immigrant detention facility in Finland with people who experienced and eye-witnessed experiences similar to those depicted in the film. Abstract In this policy analysis, we explain the difference between policy-based evidence (PBE) and evidence-based policy (EBP). We argue that better, evidence-based understanding, explanations, and questions can be sought by problematizing the challenging forms of twenty-first century migration and mobilities. We emphasize that this can be done by not confusing PBE with EBP, especially when each is needed as a basis for specific types of action. Hyperspectral imaging of asteroids using an FPI-based sensor

The compositions of asteroids are of interest for the planetary sciences, mining, and planetary defense. The main method for evaluating these compositions is reflectance spectroscopy. Spectroscopic measurements performed from Earth can not resolve how different materials are distributed on the asteroids, making flyby-- and rendezvous missions necessary for obtaining detailed information. Using the CubeSat platform could reduce the costs of these missions, but it also sets constraints on the payload mass and volume. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on selvittää, miten luokanopettajat kokevat roolinsa kolmiportaisessa tuessa, miten he ovat omaksuneet kolmiportaisen tukimallin käytännössä sekä millaisia käsityksiä luokanopettajilla on omasta työssä jaksamisesta, kun luokassa on tukea tarvitsevia oppilaita. Tutkimuksen aineisto kerättiin puolistrukturoidulla teemahaastattelulla. Haastattelut toteutettiin syksyllä 2013 haastattelemalla kahden eri eteläsuomalaisen alakoulun luokanopettajia (n=6). Šiame straipsnyje tiriamas bankų sektoriaus koncentracijos poveikis finansiniam stabilumui naudojant 134 komercinių bankų iš 17 Vidurio ir Rytų Europos šalių 2007-2012 m. laikotarpio duomenis. Empirinio tyrimo rezultatai pabrėžia vadinamąją „koncentracijos trapumo“ hipotezę, parodydami, kad aukštas koncentracijos lygis bankų sektoriuje yra siejamas su didesne bankų, ypač mažesniųjų, įsipareigojimų neįvykdymo tikimybe. Taip pat parodoma, kad neigiamas koncentracijos poveikis gali būti sumažintas taikant griežtą priežiūros sistemą. Pirmiausia - griežtas oficialus bankų sektoriaus priežiūros įgaliojimas.
