In my article I study two Anglophone feature films, Jeppe Rønde's Bridgend (2015) and Susan Bier's Bird Box (2018), from the viewpoints offered by visual cultural studies and the theoretical domains of taboo and biopower. Both systems of control respond to risks and dangers to society, taboo through ideas of contagion and biopower through normative, especially medical discourses by authorized instances of knowledge production. They are reflected also in the audio-visual popular culture seeking to make sense of suicide through entertaining and artistic means. Tässä tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, millaisia tiedontarpeita tavallisilla kansalaisilla on ja mitä viestintäteknologiaa he käyttävät poikkeus- ja vaaratilanteissa. Lisäksi haluttiin tutkia kansalaisten sosiaalisen median käyttöä ja sitä, kuinka sosiaalista mediaa voitaisiin hyödyntää poikkeus- ja vaaratilanteissa. Tutkimuksen teoreettisessa osassa käsitellään kriisiviestintää ja sosiaalista mediaa. In the literature and media, the treatment of the dangers and exposures posed by smartphones has generally focused on information security or privacy concerns. There have also been reports of fires, explosions, electric shocks, or loss of phone functionality due to faulty design or manufacture. This article provides an overview of acute physical and physiological dangers of smartphones that could be induced or triggered by a third party. It proposes a categorical discussion framework to describe and define the dangers in terms of attack vectors, effects on the smartphone, harms, and potential culprits/instigators.
