L’attenzione per la cooperazione internazionale allo sviluppo e alle sue ricadute professionali è stata ben presente nell’antropologia italiana e all’interno dei convegni SIAA, ma il dibattito in seno all’associazione è rimasto per il momento sottodimensionato rispetto a un altro ambito di grande interesse pubblico, la migrazione dai paesi affetti da conflitti e povertà verso l’Europa e al ruolo che gli antropologi possono svolgere nelle politiche di accoglienza.

Aquatic biodiversity and saline lakes: Lake Bogoria National Reserve, Kenya

Lake Bogoria, in the Rift Valley of Kenya is an extreme saline lake (conductivity 40–80 mS cm-1, alkalinity 1500 m equ 1-1). It is hydrologically more stable than the other, endorheic lakes in Kenya, because it is deep — maximum depth at present just over 10 m in an area of 3000 ha — and so does not have periods when it is dry. It is ecologically simple, with only one species dominating the phytoplankton — the cyanobacterium ‘spirulina’, Arthrospira fusiformis. Its biomass and productivity were very high — biomass between 38 and 365 μg 1-1 chlorophyll ‘a’ and 3.4–21 x 103 coils ml-1 and net production between 0.24 and 1 gm C m3 h, the latter in a narrow zone of less than a metre. The underwater archaeological campaigns carried out over twenty years, from 1970 to 1990, in the Saône valley, more particularly in the area of Chalon-sur-Saône, first by Louis Bonnamour and then by Annie Dumont, generated a considerable quantity of data concerning settlements, located on fjords or river banks. Holocene surface ruptures of the Rurrand Fault, Germany—insights from palaeoseismology, remote sensing and shallow geophysics

The Lower Rhine Embayment in Central Europe hosts a rift system that has very low deformation rates. The faults in this area have slip rates of less than 0.1 mm/yr, which does not allow to investigate ongoing tectonic deformation with geodetic techniques, unless they cover very long time spans. Instrumental seismicity does only cover a small fraction of the very long earthquake recurrence intervals of several thousands of years. Le petit dépôt de bronzes découvert à Quitteur (commune de Beaujeu-Saint-Vallier-Pierrejux et Quitteur ; Haute-Saône - France), sur une moyenne terrasse de la Saône, est composé de trente-deux objets comprenant un assortiment d’éléments de parures (boutons à bélière, pendeloque, anneaux) associés à un couteau à manche massif et une armature de flèche. Landslides and gully slope erosion on the banks of the Gauja River between the towns of Sigulda and Līgatne

This study examines contemporary and past slope erosion processes in the Gauja River valley and adjoining area between the towns of Sigulda and Līgatne. In the field survey landslides and gullies were mapped. Spatial landslide and gully data were correlated with the landslide- and gully-related features (local relief, slope lithology, slope form, slope angle and density of gullies). A novel approach was applied to establish the relationships between slope processes and factors influencing them.
