Parental expectations are influenced by cultural models, which in turn are subject to a great influence from historically fluctuating features of the socioeconomic background. Parental expectations seem to be linked to children’s social and emotional development in terms of empathy and prosocial behavior. Actualmente la sociedad se enfrenta a grandes desafíos a los que debe responder. Las Naciones Unidas aprobaron en 2015 la Agenda 2030 junto con los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible con el fin de crear una ciudadanía capaz de dar respuesta a las necesidades y retos de la sociedad. Desde 1992 Europa sintió la necesidad crear una ciudadanía supranacional compuesta por todos los ciudadanos que forman la Unión Europea. La Educación para la Ciudadanía cumple con esta función y su implementación en los sistemas educativos de los países es muy diversa, dando como resultado diferentes ciudadanos.
