Vanadium Carbide Dissolution during Austenitisation of a Model Microalloyed FeCV Steel

2005

High performance commercial micro alloyed steels contain elements such as vanadium, which leads to a fine dispersion of vanadium carbide precipitates. The precipitation state, in terms of volume fraction and size distribution, plays a significant role in final mechanical properties of the material. Different austenitisation heat treatments were performed on a model ternary alloy FeCV. Precipitation states were characterised combining different experimental techniques. TEM was used to identify the chemical composition of observed precipitates. ICP mass spectroscopy was performed to measure the volume fraction of precipitates. The size distribution was studied by SEM. Results are characterist…

Oxovanadium(V) complexes with tripodal bisphenolate and monophenolate ligands: Syntheses, structures and catalytic activities

2019

Abstract The reactions between [VO(acac)2] (acac– = acetylacetonate) and the tripodal amino bisphenols 6,6′-(((2-morpholinoethyl)azanediyl)bis(methylene))bis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenol) (H2L1) and 6,6′-(((thiophen-2-ylmethyl)azanediyl)bis(methylene))bis(2,4-di-tert-butylphenol) (H2L2) as well as the tetradentate amino phenol 2,2′-((3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzyl)azanediyl)bis(ethan-1-ol) (H3L3) afford the complexes [VO(L1)(OMe)] (1), [VO(L2)(acac)] (2) and [VO(L3)] (3), correspondingly. Complexes 1 and 3 can also be prepared using VOSO4·xH2O or [VO(OPr)3] as vanadium precursors. When [VO(acac)2] or VOSO4·xH2O is used, mononuclear oxovanadium(V) complexes are formed upon oxidation of the met…

On the mechanisms involved in the tensile strength of a dissimilar Ti6Al4V/316L laser welded assembly

2021

International audience; The aim of the present work is to analyze the thermomechanical behavior of dissimilar laser seams by means of FE modeling. The case of a Ti6Al4V/316L assembly with vanadium insert was considered. Effective mechanical properties of the main materials and cords were first estimated from NHT measurements. Modeling of the double pass laser welding process was performed first by considering shrinking of the two weld seams during manufacturing, to get the residual stress state in the welded assembly. Modeling of the tensile test was performed in a second step to study the assembly behavior during loading. In these modeling results, the mesh was the cross-section of the mic…

The formal redox potential of the Yb(III,II) Couple at 0°C in 3.22 molal NaCl medium

2004

Following our previous investigations on aqueous solutions of hypooxidized and iperoxidized species, we managed, by lowering the temperature of the solutions to 0 degrees C, to obtain, by electrochemical methods, Yb(II) and Yb(III) mixtures, enough stable to determine by a potentiometric method the formal redox potential of the Yb(IlI, II) couple. Its value, in a large range of total Ytterbium concentration, is -1233 +/- 3 mV against the molal hydrogen electrode in the 3.22 m NaCl medium.

Ethylene polymerization with FI complexes having novel phenoxy-imine ligands: Effect of metal type and complex immobilization

2011

A series of bis(phenoxy-imine) vanadium and zirconium complexes with different types of R3 substituents at the nitrogen atom, where R3 = phenyl, naphthyl, or anthryl, was synthesized and investigated in ethylene polymerization. Moreover, the catalytic performance was verified for three supported catalysts, which had been obtained by immobilization of bis[N-(salicylidene)-1-naphthylaminato]M(IV) dichloride complexes (M = V, Zr, or Ti) on the magnesium carrier MgCl2(THF)2/Et2AlCl. Catalytic performance of both supported and homogeneous catalysts was verified in conjunction with methylaluminoxane (MAO) or with alkylaluminium compounds (EtnAlCl3−n, n = 1–3). The activity of FI vanadium and zirc…

Electrochemistry of vanadium-doped ZrSiO4Site-selective electrocatalytic effect on nitrite oxidation

2004

The electrochemistry of vanadium-doped zircon (VxZrSiO4, 0 < x < 0.10) has been studied using abrasive-conditioned paraffin-impregnated graphite electrodes. It is compared with that of ZrSiO4, ZrO2, and vanadium-doped tetragonal and monoclinic zirconias. In contact with acetic/acetate and HCl + NaCl electrolytes, zirconium materials are reduced to Zr(III) at potentials near to −0.5 versus AgCl/Ag and to Zr metal at potentials more negative than −1.2 V, via proton-assisted reductive processes, influenced by the complexing action of chloride ions. Vanadium-centred oxidation processes appear at potentials from +0.2 to +0.7 V enabling for a distinction between different coordinative arrangement…

Determination of hydrogen peroxide using glassy carbon and graphite/polyester composite electrodes modified by vanadium-doped zirconias

2002

Abstract Synthetic monoclinic and tetragonal vanadium-doped zirconias (VZrO2) with vanadium loading ranging from 0.5 to 15 mol% are used to modify glassy carbon and graphite/polyester composite electrodes able to detect oxygen and hydrogen peroxide in neutral aqueous media. Electrodes modified by monoclinic VZrO2 decrease the overpotential for the reduction of oxygen and hydrogen peroxide in neutral and alkaline media and enhance their reduction currents with respect to unmodified carbon electrodes. This is associated to seven-coordinated vanadium centers isomorphously substituting zirconium ones in the ZrO2 lattice. The catalytic effect shows site-selectivity, since it is almost entirely a…

Synthesis and characterization of V2O5SiO2ZrO2 pigments by sol-gel method

1992

Abstract Polymeric gels in the V2O5 SiO2 ZrO2 system were prepared from tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), zirconium(IV)-n-propoxide and vanadium(IV) oxyacetylacetonate, precursors. The effects of prehydrolysis time of TEOS and drying gel method on the stabilization of tetragonal zirconia in the silica amorphous matrix, nucleation and growth of the zircon (ZrSiO4) phase, and stabilization of the blue and green stains of vanadium zircon were studied. Results provide evidence that long time of prehydrolysis and fast drying do not favour zircon crystallization but stabilize the tetragonal zirconia in the amorphous matrix.
