Previous research indicates that programmes employing Hellison?s Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) model in physical activity have had a positive impact on youth development by increasing participants? positive values, autonomy, life skills, and prosocial behaviour. Despite encouraging results of the effects of TPSR-based programmes, there remains lack of research on the effective content of these programmes, and their implementation and evaluation. The aim of this dissertation is to contribute to our knowledge and understanding of the various meanings of ethical consumption constructed in consumer culture, especially from consumers’ viewpoint. This doctoral thesis belongs to the field of cultural and interpretive consumption research (CCT). The research consists of an introductory essay and three articles, of which two are published in academic journals. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli suunnitella ja opettaa vastuuntuntoisuutta yhteisoppimisen periaatteiden mukaisesti sekä kuvata opetuksen onnistumista ja kokemuksia kuuden viikon ajalta. Vastuuntuntoisuutta opetettiin Hellisonin Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility -malli (2003) avulla ja tunnit olivat suunniteltu niin, että jokainen tehtävä suoritettiin yhteistoiminnallisesti. Opettamalla oppilaille yksilö- ja ryhmätason vastuuntuntoisuutta pyrittiin parantamaan oppilaiden yhteistyötaitoja.
