Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 coding sequences abd antisense RNA affect lipid secretion in transfected chicken LMH hepatoma cells

2000

Hepatic stearoyl CoA desaturase (SCD) activity in chickens from a fat line is higher than that of chickens from a lean line and correlates with plasma triacylglycerol concentrations. Furthermore, in these lines, the hepatic SCD1 mRNA level is positively correlated with the adipose tissue weight. To analyze the contribution of the SCD1 gene in the regulation of adiposity in the early stages of triacylglycerol secretion, SCD1 coding sequence and antisense RNA expression vectors were transfected in LMH cells. After selection, these cells were analyzed with regard to SCD1 expression and lipid secretion. The amounts of secreted triacylglycerols and phospholipids were shown to be higher in LMH ce…

Data Mining for the Security of Cyber Physical Systems Using Deep-Learning Methods

2022

Cyber Physical Systems (CPSs) have become widely popular in recent years, and their applicability have been growing exponentially. A CPS is an advanced system that incorporates a computation unit along with a hardware unit, allowing for computing processes to interact with the physical world. However, this increased usage has also led to the security concerns in them, as they allow potential attack vendors to exploit the possibilities of committing misconduct for their own benefit. It is of paramount importance that these systems have comprehensive security mechanisms to mitigate these security threats. A typical attack vector for a CPS is malicious data supplied by compromised sensors that…

Digitālās refrakcijas pielietojums labākā koriģētā redzes asuma novērtēšanai

2021

Systematic approach to β and 2vββ decays of mass A=100-136 nuclei

2015

In this work we perform a systematic study of pairs of single-β-decaying nuclei in the mass region A = 100–136 to extract information on the effective value of the axial-vector coupling constant gA. As the many-body framework we use the quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA) and its proton-neutron variant (pnQRPA) in singleparticle valence bases with Woods-Saxon-calculated single-particle energies. It is found that, to a reasonable approximation, gA is a linear function of the mass number A, with a slightly different parametrization below and above the mass A = 121. Using the values of gA extracted from the linear fit, as well as an average constant value of gA, we calculate the tw…

An in vitro tool to assess cytochrome P450 drug biotransformation-dependent cytotoxicity in engineered HepG2 cells generated by using adenoviral vect…

2011

Many adverse drug reactions leading to hepatotoxicity are caused by the cytochrome P450-dependent activation of non-toxic drugs or chemicals into reactive metabolites. To this end, adenoviruses were used as a tool to efficiently deliver specific CYP genes into cultured cells (i.e., human hepatoma cell line HepG2). Recombinant-defective adenoviral vectors encoding for genes CYP3A4 (Adv-CYP3A4), CYP2E1 (Adv-CYP2E1), CYP2A6 (Adv-CYP2A6) and CYP1A2 (Adv-CYP1A2) were used to confer specific CYP drug metabolic capabilities to HepG2 cells. Upgraded cells transiently expressed single specific cytochrome P450 enzymatic activities in terms of the number of the infecting virus particles used in their …

Larval trematode infections in freshwater gastropods from the Albufera Natural Park in Spain

1998

AbstractMalacological samplings were made from January 1994 to December 1996 in the Albufera Natural Park (Valencia, Spain) to trace the dynamics of molluscan populations and the prevalence and intensity of infection by larval trematodes. A total of 10,533 freshwater gastropods belonging to seven species (Lymnaea auricularia, L. truncatula, L. palustris, L. peregra, Bithynia tentaculata, Physa acuta and Gyraulus chinensis) was examined, and 110 (1.04%) were found to harbour some of the nine distinguishable types of cercariae, namely four echinostome cercariae (Hypoderaeum conoideum, Echinoparyphium recurvatum, Euparyphium albuferensis, and Echinostoma sp.), four furcocercous cercariae, and …

I. Dobrakov in his papers [Czechoslovak Math. J. 40(115) (1990), no. 1, 8--24; MR1032359 (90k:46097); Czechoslovak Math. J. 40(115) (1990), no. 3, 424--440; MR1065022 (91g:46052)] developed a theory for integrating vector-valued functions with respect to operator-valued measures: Let X and Y be two Banach spaces, Δ be a δ-ring of subsets of a nonempty set T, L(X,Y) be the space of all continuous operators L:X→Y, and m:Δ→L(X,Y) be an operator-valued measure σ-additive in the strong operator topology of L(X,Y). A measurable function f:T→X is said to be integrable in the sense of Dobrakov if there exists a sequence of simple functions fn:T→X, n∈N, converging m-a.e. to f and the integrals ∫.fnd…

W±-boson production in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 8.16 TeV and Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

2023

The production of the W± bosons measured in p–Pb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleon–nucleon collision sNN = 8.16 TeV and Pb–Pb collisions at sNN = 5.02 TeV with ALICE at the LHC is presented. The W± bosons are measured via their muonic decay channel, with the muon reconstructed in the pseudorapidity region −4 10 GeV/c. While in Pb–Pb collisions the measurements are performed in the forward (2.5 < ycmsμ < 4) rapidity region, in p–Pb collisions, where the centre-of-mass frame is boosted with respect to the laboratory frame, the measurements are performed in the backward (−4.46 < ycmsμ < −2.96) and forward (2.03 < ycmsμ < 3.53) rapidity regions. The W− and W+ production cross se…

Assessment Of Driving Stress Through SVM And KNN Classifiers On Multi-Domain Physiological Data

2022

We propose an objective stress assessment method based on the extraction of features from physiological time series and their classification using Support Vector Machine and K-Nearest Neighbors algorithms. For this purpose, we used an open dataset consisting of multiparametric physiological signals (electrocardiogram, electromyogram, galvanic skin response and breath signal) obtained during the execution of a driving route within the city of Boston with restful, highway and city driving periods indicative of three different stress states. To predict the driver stress level, 21 features were extracted from 122 chunks of raw signals and were subsequently managed by classification algorithms. …
