The aim of this article is to analyse and quantify the effects of demand and inventory smoothing into supply-chain performance, facing the extreme volatility and impetuous alteration of the market produced by the current economic recession. To do so, we model a traditional serial three-stage supply chain and we test five settings of order smoothing under two shocks in the market demand, and we measure effects in terms of internal process benefits and customer service level of all supply chain partners. Background To determine the influence of dental anxiety and the vasoconstrictor used in local anesthesia upon different hemodynamic parameters - systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP), heart rate (HR) and peripheral oxygen saturation (SatO2) - during dental extraction and oral hygiene. The safety of local anesthesia with vasoconstrictor in patients with medically controlled hypertension was also assessed. Background and purpose: Multiple sclerosis (MS) patients are often emotionally disturbed. We investigated anger in these patients in relation to demographic, clinical, and mood characteristics. Patients and methods: About 195 cognitively unimpaired MS patients (150 relapsing–remitting and 45 progressive) were evaluated with the State Trait Anger Expression Inventory, the Chicago Multiscale Depression Inventory, and the State Trait Anxiety Inventory. Over the centuries the dominant presence of convents and monasteries determined various aspects of the city, urban development being one of them. El presente trabajo revela parte del proceso constructivo y aspectos de culto de la capilla de la Virgen del Carmen (1774-1783), titular del antiguo convento carmelita de la ciudad de Valencia, constituyendo uno de los mejores ejemplos de arquitectura académica en la capital. En el año 1776, hallándose la capilla pendiente de proseguir la obra, tuvo lugar el informe para proceder al tallado, inspirado en la obra de Palladio, así como dos justiprecios de su coste. This paper analyzes and quantifies the land use/land cover changes of the main forest and semi-natural landscape types in Sicily between 1955 and 2012. We analyzed seven representative forest and shrubland landscapes in Sicily. These study areas were chosen for their importance in the Sicilian forest panorama. We carried out a diachronic survey on historical and current aerial photos; all the aerial images used to survey the land use/land cover changes were digitalized and georeferenced in the UTM WGS84 system.
