Pioneers as Peers : How Entrepreneurial Journalists Imagine the Futures of Journalism

The article investigates the futures of journalism that pioneering entrepreneurial journalists anticipate. This comprises the different imaginaries that journalists employ to make sense of journalism’s present potentials, anticipate its possible futures, and inform their decision-making. By analysing semi-structured interviews with Finnish entrepreneurial journalists, the article identifies a peer-to-peer imaginary on which the interviewees draw and construct to anticipate the potential futures of journalism. Habits of contributing citizenship : Self-help groups in rural Tanzania

The chapter examines self-help groups in rural Tanzania as practices in which citizenship habits are formed. Self-help groups are referred as locally organized groups established to address the needs and challenges of the members. From the point of view of pragmatism, self-help groups provide concrete examples of a specific form of associated life and of a general human activeness in addressing shared problems. Kulttuuriluotsitoiminta on vertaistoiminnan periaatteisiin pohjaavaa vapaaehtoistyötä, joka edistää kulttuurin saavutettavuutta sellaisten henkilöiden kohdalla, jotka eivät pääse tai halua lähteä kulttuurin pariin ilman seuraa. Palvelun kautta luotsataan usein vanhuksia tai erityisryhmiin kuuluvia henkilöitä, mutta yhä enemmissä määrin myös muitakin, joille kulttuuriosallistuminen on eri syistä hankalaa. Jyväskylässä vuonna 2006 alkanut toiminta on levinnyt 23 paikkakunnalle Suomessa. Tutkielmassa avataan kulttuuriluotsitoiminnan periaatteita, sen tämänhetkistä tilaa ja paikallisia toimintamalleja.
