Protection of trafficked people in Italy: policies, limits and challenges

Purpose– The purpose of the article is to analyse the Italian anti-trafficking system by examining its effectiveness in the protection of trafficked people.Design/methodology/approach– The article examines the protection of trafficked people in Italy, focusing in particular on the implementation of Article 18 of the “Consolidated Act of Measures Governing Immigration and Norms on the Condition of Foreign Citizens” (Legislative Decree n. 286/1998), which provides victims with protection and a residence permit independent of their cooperation with the competent authorities in criminal proceedings against offenders.Findings– The article demonstrates that, though the Italian legal framework on …

Ajuste psicosocial en adolescentes víctimas frecuentes y víctimas ocasionales de violencia de pareja

El objetivo de esta investigación es analizar el ajuste psicosocial en los adolescentes víctimas de violencia de pareja, considerando posibles diferencias en función de la frecuencia de la victimización y del sexo de los adolescentes. Los indicadores del ajuste psicológico y social analizados son el ánimo depresivo, los sentimientos de soledad, el autoconcepto, la satisfacción con la vida y la calidad de la comunicación con el padre y la madre. Participaron 672 adolescentes españoles (325 chicas, 347 chicos), entre 12 y 19 años (M = 14.45; DT = 1.62). Domestic violence in light of the Istanbul Convention: some procedural issues

The paper concerns domestic violence (DV) and focuses on the connected criminal procedure topics. Following an attempt to define DV, the second part of the paper concerns the profile of the victim. The third part of the paper highlights two procedural issues, namely the complaint and the evidence. After that, the duty of the States to grant legal aid is considered.

The Relationship Between Internalized Homophobia and Intimate Partner Violence in Same-Sex Relationships: A Meta-Analysis

A meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the association between internalized homophobia and intimate partner violence (IPV) perpetration and victimization in same-sex relationships. The literature search and the application of the inclusion criteria made it possible to identify 10 studies, 2 of which were excluded due to missing data. Therefore, eight studies were finally included in the meta-analysis. The results showed positive and statistically significant associations between internalized homophobia and IPV perpetration and victimization, indicating that higher levels of internalized homophobia were related to higher levels of IPV. This essay draws upon the contention that posthuman subjects, such as androids, clones, and robots, can experience psychological trauma. The aim of the paper is to examine this notion in three science fiction texts: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein , Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? , and Ursula Le Guin’s short story ‘Nine Lives’. What these narratives illustrate is that trauma manifestations contribute to a disruption of ontological frameworks that regard categories such as ‘human’ and ‘non-human’ as permanent and distinct.
