Functional ecology of microbial freshwater communities from Byers Peninsula (Livingston Island, Antarctica)

This thesis studies the microbial communities inhabiting freshwater ecosystems of Byers Peninsula (Livingston Island, Antarctica). This is an ice-free area of around 60 km2 that holds numerous lakes, ponds, rivers and wetlands. As a deglaciated region, the functioning of aquatic ecosystems is very closely linked with the surrounding land. So, when snow melting occurs during summer, interactions with the catchment become more intense, and coincide with enhanced biological activity. Two very important taxa of floristic and chorologic interest: Aster linosyris (L.) Bernh.,and Gymnocarpium dryopteris (L.) Newman are quoted for the first time in Avila (C Spain). We also present new references for other interesting species like Juniperus thurifera L. and Taxus baccata L. Photos and chorologic materials, maps of both discoveries with directions about their location are provided, as well as their coordinates in grids UTM of 10×10 km.
Teucrium × coeleste nothosubsp. schreberi (Labiatae), un híbrido nuevo para la flora valenciana

Some taxonomical notes about the hybridacion between T. angustissimum y T. capitatum s.l. (sect. Polium, Labiatae) are reported. A new nothosubspecies, Teucrium ×coeleste nothosubsp. schreberi is described coming from the hybridization between T. angustissimum and T. capitatum subsp. gracillimum. A morphological description is reported, emphasizing the main diagnostic characters which allow the separation from its parent taxa.

The location of 14 specimens in the herbarium MA (Royal Botanical Garden of Madrid) of the years 1798, 1799 and 1800, in whose label appears as collector the enigmatic ?Sincunegui?, is disclosed. The value of several of these documents is described and the importance of being able to specify all the historical circumstances of these collections.

En esta nota documento la presencia de dos expresiones fenotípicas desconocidas, espontáneas y excepcionalmente raras, que afectan a caracteres reproductivos en plantas adultas del género mediterráneo Phillyrea (Oleaceae): (i) un morfo con un estigma anormalmente largo y lóbulos transformados en dos ramas (i.e. fenotipo de estigma profundo), detectado en una población de Phillyrea latifolia L. en el noreste de España, y (ii) un morfo con frutos carentes de antocianinas (i.e. fenotipo de frutos sin pigmentación), en una población de Phillyrea angustifolia L. del suroeste español.
