Sequence features and evolutionary mechanisms in the chicken avidin gene family

The chicken avidin gene family comprises the avidin gene (avd) and several homologous avidin-related genes (avrs). The sequences of the avr genes are nearly identical to each other but exhibit nonrandomly distributed, frequently nonsynonymous nucleotide substitutions compared to avd. In this study, we determined the genetic distances and the phylogeny of the avd and avr genes and found differences between different exons and introns. Our results suggest the involvement of biased gene conversion in the evolution of the genes. Furthermore, one of the genes was identified as a putative fusion gene. Resum: Roís de Corella fou un escriptor amb relacions amoroses juvenils, però amb fortes conviccions morals, que el portarien per un camí de perfecció i elevació espiritual, cosa que justifica la seua evolució temàtica. L’estudiant de teologia pren distància respecte dels predicadors medievals, però s’inspira en els clàssics llatins per a desenvolupar la seua creativitat literària i orientar-la cap a lliçons morals, amb un estil que crea escola. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir izpētīt sentiendi leksikas semantiku un izvērtēt tās funkcijas Ovidija poēmā „Ars amatoria”. Mērķa sasniegšanai tiek apzinātas mūsdienu pētnieku atziņas par Ovidija poēmu „Ars amatoria”, tās raksturiezīmes, kā arī teorētisks materiāls par semantiku un semantisko lauku. Bakalaura darba vajadzībām konstruēts sentiendi leksiski semantiskais lauks. Ņemot to vērā, tiek atlasītas un grupētas leksēmas tematiskajās grupās jeb piecās maņās. The Amores’ collection is rich in declarations of literary intents, among which the introductory poem stands out: in this elegy the poet announces a metabasis eis allo genos, by blending echos from Bio frr. 3 e 10 G. with echoes from Prop. 2.13a.1-4, in order to legitimise the transition from the original epic inspiration to the elegiac one. The motif occurs again in 2.1 and 18: in the first case Ovid justifies, for the second time, this evolution, in the latter he informs the reader of his comeback to the erotic elegy, after a break in the space of the tragedy and of the didascalic and/or epistolary poetry with erotic content (Ars, Heroides). The raven’s black plumage has a story behind it, which Ovid, following the Callimachean Hecale, retells in met. 2, 531-632 weaving it with the crow’s vicissitudes, initially Athena’s/Minerva’s loyal servant. The combination of the respective ornithological denominations and the names of the mythical characters recalled by the two volucres loquentes reveals all the erudition showed off by the poet in writing this literary piece. Following the pattern of the talking birds, Ovid endows both the raven and the crow with human language. The latter tries to exhort the former not to tell Apollo the truth about Coronis’ infidelity.
