Neural-level associations of non-verbal pragmatic comprehension in young Finnish autistic adults

This video-based study examines the pragmatic non-verbal comprehension skills and corresponding neural-level findings in young Finnish autistic adults, and controls. Items from the Assessment Battery of Communication (ABaCo) were chosen to evaluate the comprehension of non-verbal communication. Inter-subject correlation (ISC) analysis of the functional magnetic resonance imaging data was used to reveal the synchrony of brain activation across participants during the viewing of pragmatically complex scenes of ABaCo videos. Background: The purpose of this study was to examine trajectories of leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) and television-viewing (TV) time and their associations in adults over 10 years. Methods: The sample comprised 2934 participants (men, 46.0%) aged 24–39 years in 2001 and they were followed up for 10 years. Online gas-solid adsorption studies with single atom quantities of Hg, Tl, and Pb on SiO$_{2}$ and Au surfaces were carried out using short-lived radioisotopes with half-lives in the range of 4-49 s. This is a model study to measure adsorption enthalpies of superheavy elements Cn, Nh, and Fl. The short-lived isotopes were produced and separated by the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA at GSI. The products were stopped in He gas, and flushed into gas chromatography columns made of Si detectors whose surfaces were covered by SiO$_{2}$ or Au. En aquest article realitzem una aproximació al poblament rural i a les vies de comunicació romanes a la Ribera del riu Xúquer, amb especial atenció a la Via Augusta. S’hi analitzen les fonts històriques i arqueològiques, incloent entre aquestes darreres els resultats del nostre treball de camp. S’hi observa una distribució d’assentaments, tant ibèrics com romans, al llarg de l’eix marcat per l’actual CV-41 (Algemesí-Alzira-Manuel), que relacionem amb el traçat de la Via Augusta. Soils play fundamental roles in the functioning of the Earth's ecosystems. Despite numerous initiatives to protect soils, it continues to be generally perceived as dirt or, at best, the surface we walk on. To better understand soil perception by the public, we conducted a survey with 99 participants from Poland and Brazil. We applied opportunity sampling and conducted semi-structured interviews with 40 respondents from Poland and 30 from Brazil, and 29 unstructured interviews in Brazil. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on tuottaa ymmärrystä elintarvikepakkauksen roolista kuluttajan kokeman arvon muodostumisessa kussakin osto- ja käyttöprosessin vaiheessa. Tutkimus selvittää myös, millaisia ominaisuuksia kuluttajat pitävät tärkeinä elintarvikepakkauksissa prosessin kuluessa. Tutkielman aineisto kerättiin kvalitatiivisesti narratiivisen tutkimuksen ja teemahaastattelun yhdistelmällä 12 keskustelutilanteessa, ja se analysoitiin rakenneanalyysin avulla. Organizational information and communication technologies and their influence on communication visibility and perceived proximity

This study investigates the relationships between the use of various organizational ICTs, communication visibility, and perceived proximity to distant colleagues. In addition, this study examines the interplay between visibility and proximity, to determine whether visibility improves proximity, or vice versa. These relationships are tested in a global company using two waves of panel survey data. ESM use increases communication visibility and perceived proximity, while controlling for prior levels of visibility, proximity, and the use of other organizational ICTs. Nykyinen käsitys vieraiden kielten opettamisesta Suomessa painottaa kielen lisäksi myös kohdekulttuurin tuntemusta. Kielen opetuksessa tulisi huomioida sen kulttuurinen konteksti. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli kartoittaa suomalaisten lukiolaisten kokemuksia ulkomaisesta ystävyyskoulutoiminnasta. Erityisen kiinnostuksen kohteena olivat lukiolaisten motiivit osallistua projektiin, heidän näkemyksensä projektin suunnittelusta ja toteutuksesta, sekä heidän kokemuksensa projektin vaikutuksista kulttuurienväliseen oppimiseen ja kielitaitoon.
