Effect of Footstep Vibrations and Proprioceptive Vibrations Used with an Innovative Navigation Method

This study proposes to investigate the effect of adding vibration feedback to a navigation task in virtual environment. Previous study used footstep vibrations and proprioceptive vibrations in order to decrease the cyber-sickness and increase the sense of presence. In this study, we experiment the same vibration modalities but with a new navigation method. The results show that proprioceptive vibrations do not impact the sense of presence neither the cyber-sickness while footstep vibrations increase sense of presence and decrease in a certain way cyber-sickness. NoC Reconfiguration for CMP Virtualization

At NoC level, the traffic interferences can be drastically reduced by using virtualization mechanisms. An effective strategy to virtualize a NoC consists in dividing the network in different partitions, each one serving different applications and traffic flows. In this paper, we propose a NoC reconfiguration mechanism to support NoC virtualization under real scenarios. Dynamic reassignment of network resources to different partitions is allowed in order to NoC dynamically adapts to application needs. Evaluation results show a good behavior of CMP virtualization.

This article presents an image processing application for hand detection and tracking using the 4-connected skeleton of the segmentation mask. The system has been designed to be used with techniques of virtual reality to develop an interactive application for phantom limb pain reduction in therapeutic treatments. In this paper the concept of virtual environment for implementation and testing private Wide Area Network (WAN) solutions is presented. The VMware vSphere virtualization platform is used. The paper presents the ability to reflect the structure of any given WAN topology using Vyatta software routers and VMware virtualization platform and verifies its reliability regarding data transfer. The paper includes a number of performance tests to verify the dependability of the proposed solution and provide a proof-of-concept for the network topology during the Design phase of the PPDIOO methodology, right before the Implementation phase.
