Epigenetic Status of an Adenovirus Type 12 Transgenome upon Long-Term Cultivation in Hamster Cells

ABSTRACT The epigenetic status of integrated adenovirus type 12 (Ad12) DNA in hamster cells cultivated for about 4 decades has been investigated. Cell line TR12, a fibroblastic revertant of the Ad12-transformed epitheloid hamster cell line T637 with 15 copies of integrated Ad12 DNA, carries one Ad12 DNA copy plus a 3.9-kbp fragment from a second copy. The cellular insertion site for the Ad12 integrate, identical in both cell lines, is a >5.2-kbp inverted DNA repeat. The Ad12 transgenome is packaged around nucleosomes. 9-beta-D-Arabinofuranosyladenine 5'-triphosphate (ara-ATP) is an inhibitor both of DNA polymerase-alpha and -beta from noninfected rabbit kidney cells and of the DNA-dependent DNA polymerase induced by herpes simplex virus Type 1 (strain IES). The studies were performed with partially purified enzymes, and each of the different polymerase preparations contained only one DNA-dependent DNA polymerase species. These enzymes were inhibited in a competitive manner. Background Mandatory rules for social distancing to curb the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic require individuals to maintain a critical interpersonal distance above 1.5 m. However, this contradicts our natural preference, which is closer to 1 m for non-intimate encounters, for example, when asking a stranger for directions. Inhibition of growth of measles virus by mycoplasma in cell-cultures and the restoring effect of arginine

Presence of mycoplasma in MK cell cultures caused an inhibition of measles virus, as revealed by a lower plating efficiency. When arginine is supplemented to the cell-system, mycoplasma contaminated cells yield plaque titers as high as those of uncontaminated cells. The essential role of arginine for plaque formation of measles virus is suggested also by experiments in which arginine added to the agar overlay restored the plating efficiency of measles virus in cultures maintained in a minimal nutrient medium.

Parvoviruses are an important platform for gene and cancer therapy. Their cell entry and the following steps including nuclear import are inefficient limiting their use in therapeutic applications. Socio-economic implications of the Coronavirus pandemic in Latvia

The spread of COVID-19 requires immediate policy response and future-oriented actions to reduce devastating economic and social impact of crisis and preserve sustainable growth. The aim of this paper is to assess the current economic and social consequenses of the ongoing crisis in Latvia, the government response, public perceptions and future scenarios. Research is based on the macroeconomic assessment and surveybased analysis of people’s attitude towards the government's emergency programs. The comparison of statistically justified findings with the public perception helps formulate conclusions on the future sustainability scenarios and policies.

We have sequenced the genome and identified the structural proteins and lipids of the novel membranecontaining, icosahedral virus P23-77 of Thermus thermophilus. P23-77 has an 17-kb circular double-stranded DNA genome, which was annotated to contain 37 putative genes.
