In the 2011 campaign the southern and central apses, as well as the southern nave of the abbey church of St Peter, together with its immediate surroundings were excavated. The primary analysis of the eastern part of the Venetian town wall was undertaken as well. The geophysical survey of the western and south-eastern parts of the complex has equally been continued. The initial results allow us to present a phasing of the early Romanesque church, possibly preceded by two earlier churches, as well as to complete the ground plan thanks to the discovery of the former bell-tower, containing a funerary room (maybe a chapel) in its ground level. To honour the battle of 27 May 1860, in 1910 the Palermo City Government decided to realise a commemorative monument. A position at the centre of a large circular plaza was of have afforded the monument a greater solemnity. The commission for the Monument was awarded to Ernesto Basile. In 1927 the City Government decided to dedicate the monument to the Fallen and asked Basile to complete the monument adding an architectural backdrop. The school theatre as a place of cultural learning: the case of Soviet Latvia (1960s–1980s)

AbstractThe goal of this article is to reveal how through school theatre activities under authoritarian rule, changes took place in pupil knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviour regarding culture, namely, how the process of cultural learning occurs. I use a historical case study, specifically the case of the Valmiera School Theatre, which was the leading theatre group, not only in Soviet Latvia, but also in the entire Soviet Union. My primary sources are eight unstructured interviews, 20 published memoirs, articles in the press, theatre programmes, and photographs. Private Space in Soviet Cinema: Case Study of Riga

Abstract The aim of this article is to discover the discourse of living spaces of Riga through the films of the Soviet period and to examine essential changes of private space in different residential structures. This study contributes to the field of human geography by conducting content analysis of a vast number of Soviet films with a focus on the development and spatial organization of apartments in Riga. The analysis of 264 films illustrates that living spaces are rarely portrayed in the Soviet cinema and they mostly provide intentionally formed idealistic information about the qualities and achievements of Soviet private space.
El tipo iconográfico de la Fortaleza en la «nueva visualidad»

Aunque en la tradición visual de la Fortaleza imperan las influencias italianas, durante los siglos XV y XVI, en el ámbito francés algunos artistas abandonaron los atributos ya codificados en su imagen para desarrollar otros nuevos. Esto dio lugar a la «nueva visualidad», la cual proporcionó un nuevo tipo iconográfico para la concreción visual de la Fortaleza. Dicha innovación no es más que la manifestación icónica de las características que los pensadores atribuyen a esta virtud. Asimismo, la coexistencia de la «nueva visualidad» y la tradición visual italiana dio lugar a la interacción de atributos entre tipos iconográficos.
