Rare earth metal complexes that contain linked amido-cyclopentadienyl ligands: ansa-metallocene mimics and “constrained geometry” catalysts

2003

A survey of group 3 metal complexes that contain a linked amido-cyclopentadienyl ligand is given. Originally designed as ansa-metallocene analogues for the development of single-component olefin polymerization catalysts, variations in the metals and ligand substituents have allowed the synthetic access to new rare earth metal complexes including olefin polymerization initiators, divalent complexes and heterobimetallic metallocenes. The linked amido-cyclopentadienyl ligands have made half-sandwich complexes of group 3 metals accessible in a more systematic manner and provided a better understanding of the electronic and steric constraints of chelating ligands for the larger rare earth metal …

Sulfide ore facies, fluid inclusion and sulfur isotope characteristics of the Tappehsorkh Zn-Pb ( ± Ag-Ba) deposit, South Esfahan, Iran

2020

International audience; The stratiform, stratabound Tappehsorkh Zn-Pb (± Ag-Ba) deposit, located in the southeastern part of the Malayer-Esfahan Metallogenic Belt of Iran, formed during Lower Cretaceous back-arc extension. Sulfide mi-neralization occurs within dolostone, black siltstone, and crystal lithic tuff and andesite associated with the Gushfil-Baghabrisham synsedimentary normal fault. Three sulfide ore facies (massive, bedded, and stockwork) occur in the deposit. Sulfide minerals are sphalerite, galena, tetrahedrite and pyrite with minor chalcopyrite and bornite, and gangue minerals are barite, dolomite and quartz. Sulfide mineralization textures are massive, replacement , vein-vein…

Isomotiol, a new triterpene from strychnos potatorum

1978

Isomotiol (fern-8-en-3β-ol) was isolated from the leaves of Strychnos potatorum; it was not known previously as a natural product, but it has been obtained by acidic isomerization of compounds with a fern-7-ene or a fern-9(11)-ene skeleton. From the leaves and the bark mixtures of sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol were also isolated.

Environmental impact of mining activities on the Hermioni area, Greece

1993

Publisher Summary This chapter investigates the environmental impact of mining activities in the Hermioni area, Greece, including the offshore area. A chemical analysis of sediments associated with diabase lavas in the Hermioni mine area has shown significant enrichments in Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and As relative to normal pelagic clays. Marked geographic compositional variations within the Hermioni area have been observed, the highest metal enrichments found at Baroutospelia. Mineralogically the Fe–Mn sediments contain hematite, quartz, and minor amounts of illite, smectites, and feldspars. A chemical analysis of sulfide ore samples showed that the Hermioni ores are Cu-rich pyrites, always contain…

Hydrogenation of light hydrocarbons on palladium: theoretical study of the local surface arrangements

2001

Abstract Quantum mechanical calculations at HF, MP2 and DFT levels were used to rationalise the surface effects of the hydrocarbon lateral interactions occurring on single planar metal surfaces or on different adjacent surfaces during the hydrogenation on palladium catalyst. The different values of electronic charge, found in the different atoms of palladium clusters, were suggested as a possible explanation of the non-homogeneous behaviour already inferred for catalyst surface sites having non-isotropic local arrangement.

Thermal decomposition study of major refuse derived fuel components

2018

Abstract Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) composed on biomass, paper, textiles, wood, synthetic polymers and other combustible materials is an alternative energy resource to implement Waste-to-Energy strategy. The aim of this study is to investigate the thermal decomposition characteristics of materials forming RDF by thermogravimetric analysis. Thermogravimetric (TG) analysis of RDF components demonstrates major differences in processes behind the thermal decomposition processes of waste components. Biomass decomposition can be divided into two distinct stages for wood, cotton, cotton wool and other biomass samples whereas three distinct stages can be distinguished for cardboard and paper samples…

Accelerated ageing due to moisture absorption of thermally cured epoxy resin/polyethersulphone blends. Thermal, mechanical and morphological behaviour

2011

Abstract A model epoxy resin/anhydride system, modified with a polyethersulfone (PES) engineering thermoplastic toughening agent, has been studied under hydrothermal ageing in order to investigate the modification of the thermal, morphological and mechanical behaviour through dynamical mechanical thermal analysis, SEM microscopy and fracture toughness test respectively. Two different concentrations of the toughening agent were used in the blends and two ageing conditions have been considered, consisting of the immersion of the samples in distilled water at constant temperature of 70 °C for 1 week and for 1 month. Dynamical mechanical thermal analysis results on hydrothermally aged materials…

Thermal properties of e-beam cured epoxy/thermoplastic matrices for advanced composite materials

2007

The aim of this work is to investigate the possibility to improve the thermal behaviour of epoxy based systems, cured by ionizing radiation, in order to produce matrices for advanced carbon fibres composites. Blends of two epoxy monomers, difunctional and trifunctional, have been polymerized by e-beam irradiation and the dynamic mechanical thermal properties have been investigated. The increase of the concentration of the trifunctional epoxy monomer in the blend causes a marked increase of the Tg, but strongly decreases the reactivity. Subsequently, blends of the same epoxy monomers with a high Tg thermoplastic toughening agent have been considered and their reactivity and the thermal prope…

Mode I fracture toughness behavior of hydro-thermally aged carbon fibre reinforced DGEBA-HHPA-PES systems

2012

In this work the Mode I fracture toughness behavior of unidirectional CFRP laminates is investigated by means of Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) tests. The composite samples were manufactured by thermal curing after impregnation of a Carbon fabric with a DGEBA epoxy and anhydride HHPA curing agent. One resin batch was also mixed with a PES thermoplastic monomer to enhance the matrix toughness. Two lots of samples, toughened and un-toughened, were then left to soak in hot water to achieve various degrees of aging. The influence of matrix toughening and hydrothermal aging on the delamination behavior of the composite have then been assessed and correlated with characterization data from Dynamic …
