This Research-to-Practice, Work in Progress Paper focuses on how learners experience creation of infographics as a summarizing assignment in an advanced level e-course on software engineering management (SEM). We have previously investigated how learners perceive infographics as a repeated reflection assignment during a requirements engineering e-course. Dynamic representations (e.g., dynamic geometry software GeoGebra for mathematics learning and PhET simulations for science learning) offer excellent opportunities for students to conduct investigations and to formulate explanations for the visualized phenomena. Task-based visual analytics for interactive multiobjective optimization

We study how visual interaction techniques considered in visual analytics can be utilized when implementing interactive multiobjective optimization methods, where a decision maker iteratively participates in the solution process. We want to benefit from previous research and avoid re-inventing ideas. Our aim is to widen awareness and increase the applicability of interactive methods for solving real-world problems. Visualising knowledge from chat debates in argument diagrams

This study investigates whether combining chat discussion and construction of an argument diagram stimulates students to formulate new ideas in practising argumentation. In this study, 16 secondary school students discussed vivisection and gender equality in pairs using both free and structured chat tools. In structured chat, the students selected and completed partial sentences provided by the computer. Liiketoimintatiedon järjestelmät ovat kasvattaneet suosiotaan. Tämän tutkielman tavoitteena on selvittää edesauttavatko nämä järjestelmät päätöksentekoprosessia. Tutkielmassa esitellään päätöksenteon tukijärjestelmien synty, historia ja tällaisten järjestelmien erilaiset tavoitteet. Järjestelmien teknologiset taustat ja päätöksentekoprosessi esitellään. Tutkielman aineisto on kerätty elektronisella kyselylomakkeella eri organisaatioiden työntekijöiltä. Drawing the premises for personalized learning : illustrations of management and accounting

2019

This paper reports on a teaching innovation using participant-generated drawings. Experienced managers were asked to produce a drawing to illustrate their work from an accounting perspective. The drawings were then used to make the managerial context of the participants the explicit starting point for personalized executive learning. This study is the first in the sphere of accounting education and research to take drawing seriously as a learning method. The results of the experiment show how drawing can be further used as a tool in management education by facilitating the visualization of the managerial contexts participants work within. peerReviewed
