Background: The measurement of carbon isotopic discrimination in grape sugars at harvest (δ13 C) is an integrated assessment of water status during ripening. It is an efficient alternative to assess variability in the field and discriminate between management zones in precision viticulture, but further work is needed to completely understand the signal.; Results: This work, spanning over 3 years, performed in a hillslope toposequence in Burgundy, delineates the relationships between main soil properties (gravel amount, slope, texture) and the grapevine water status assessed by δ13 C. The highest δ13 C, indicating most severe water deficit, was recorded in gravelly soils on steep slopes. The…

The INAO, from its origins to the late 1960's. : genesis and evolution of the AOC wines system
2011
The Comité National des Appellations d’Origine (CNAO), the first form of the Institut National des Appellations d'Origine (INAO), was formally established with the Decree-Law of 30 July 1935. Its creation coincided with the establishment of a new regime, a new quality standard for fine wines, the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC). The objective of this research, taking field study this institution, is to understand the characteristics of the regulation of wines between 1935 and the late 1960s, and the interactions at work between the public sphere, State and professional sector, an economic sector, by definition consists of private actors. To achieve the goal, the purpose is structured …
Impact of stresses associated to climate changes on natural and induced grapevine resistance to pathogens
2013
National audience; France is a worldwide leader in grape production and has to face global changes including climate evolution and transitions towards sustainable systems of production. One major problem in viticulture is indeed the high susceptibility of most of the grown cultivars to cryptogamic diseases, such as downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola). Maintaining a satisfactory health status of grapevine currently requires numerous fungicide treatments. However, in an objective of sustainable viticulture, there is increasing societal request, winegrower awareness, and political incitation to reduce this use of pesticides. For these reasons, alternative strategies of protection are currently …
