Emerging Markets – Drivers and hindrances of sustainable economic growth : with focus on China, India and Brazil
2016
Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2016 The term «Emerging Market» describes a country that has some characteristics of a developed high-income economy, such as the United States, Western Europe and Japan, but does not meet the standards of a fully developed economy. The Emerging Markets are in a transitional phase marked by rapid GDP growth towards rule of law and institutional credibility. Emerging Markets describe developing countries that are not among the poorest nor of the newly industrialized countries, but countries that have the potential to become a fully developed economy (Gaeta, 2012b) The reason that additional research on the Emerging Markets i…
2020
Master's thesis in Business administration (BE501) Det finnes to metoder for å beregne den estimerte markedsverdien: Statistisk Sentralbyrås (SSB) metode og kommunenes egne metoder.

2020
Master thesis in Business Administration (BE501) Increased climate change over the last century has led to efforts towards a low-emission society. Such a transition can entail risks, which in turn can affect the financial stability of the Norwegian economy, including Norwegian savings banks. Based on the main goals of the Paris Agreement, Norway presented revised climate targets, where the goal was to reduce the 1990-emission levels with 50-55 percent. This makes the transition to a low-emission society more immediate than first expected. As Mark Carney, the Governor of the Bank of England pointed out, the climate crisis may be the new financial crisis. Therefore, it is important that Norwe…

2017
Identifiserte gevinster…
New regional industrial path development and innovation networks in times of economic crisis
2022
This paper presents novel research on how exogenous shocks and economic crises affect innovation, knowledge networks, and new path development in regions. Conceptually, we take a regional innovation systems perspective which views new path development as the outcome of innovation and knowledge exchange between firms and other actors, facilitated by a common institutional framework. Empirically, we draw on interviews and network data from the oil and gas industry in southern Norway. Following a long period of prosperity, the industry was hit by the oil price shock in 2014 and entered an economic crisis. The findings suggest that the shock triggered the firms to commit even more forcefully to…
De facto differentiation in the EU’s economic and monetary union - A rationalist explanation
2022
Although there are various legal tools to make European integration more flexible, the EU and its member states uphold long-term arrangements of de facto differentiation circumventing EU law. This article assesses their role in the EU’s system of differentiated integration. To that end, it advances a model based on rational choice theory, outlining the steps and conditions under which tolerated arrangements of de facto differentiation can emerge. This is illustrated in three case studies in Economic and Monetary Union (EMU): (1) Sweden’s de facto opt-out from EMU; (2) Kosovo’s adoption of the euro as sole legal tender, and (3) the Fiscal Compact. Data was gathered via document analysis and …
