Transition to a fossil- and emission-free construction industry
2018
Master's thesis Industrial Economics and Technology Management IND590 - University of Agder 2018 The object for this thesis is to see how Nettpartner, which is Norway’s largest electrical infrastructure contractor, can contribute to the green change in the construction industry. To go green has become a big topic in the Norwegian construction industry during the last few years, and in 2017 a report concluded that the Norwegian construction industry could reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases with close to 99 % if the industry planned better before they started building. The method used in this research is the constructive research. The aim of constructive research is to solve practical…

Project report : Evaluering av INSITU skogbrannøvelse
2021
Her gjorde vi flere …
Development of System for Deterrence of Animals using Artificial Intelligence
2021
Master's thesis in Mechatronics (MAS500) This thesis is part of the Mechatronics masters program at the University of Agder (UiA). It describes the development of an animal deterrence system, using computer vision with embedded systems for edge computing. Household cats can run freely around in neighborhoods, but all neighbors may not appreciate it. This project seeks to develop a harmless and accurate system for keeping cats away. The solution is to use a state-of-the-art object detector to look for cats in an area. Using an embedded system to run the object detector and tracking method. Design a two-axis turret with servo motors and a camera. The object detector used for this project was …
Tapping beam recognition and measurement with infrared camera : Optimisation of an industrial process using an thermal imaging camera and computer vi…
2021
Master's thesis in Mechatronics (MAS500) This thesis presents the research and development of an application for recognition and measuring of a ferrosilicon tapping beam using an Infrared (IR) camera. Ferrosilicon production is a highly endothermic process, requiring large amounts of energy to operate; thus, the need for increased efficiency is constant. Using an IR camera for non-intrusive measurements of the tapping beam and developing computer vision algorithms that can identify distinctive process parameters are investigated in this project. Today a videostream from an IR camera overlooking the tapping area at Elkem Thamshavn is directly displayed in the tapping control room with no for…
Scandinavia: Traits, Trends and Tensions
2018
The Scandinavian welfare societies depend on strong states to provide public services and to redistribute income. Scandinavians enjoy comprehensive welfare systems that offer citizens social security within open economies. Scandinavia combines international market capitalism with government regulation. The political-economic crisis in Europe influences Scandinavia as well, with pressure from globalization and immigration, and new political divisions that are articulated by right-wing populism. The Scandinavian countries are built on egalitarian values and practices and the level of trust between people is high. However, the countries are finding that these egalitarian values also have unint…
Gender, Diversity, and Mediatized Conflicts of Religion: Lessons from Scandinavian Case Studies
2018
Abstract: Drawing on empirical data from the Scandinavian project Engaging with Conflicts in Mediatized Religious Environments (CoMRel), this chapter ana- lyses the findings from case-studies in: classrooms, online communities, public service media (PSM) production rooms, local news outlets, and interreligious dialogue initiatives. Gender and ethno-religious diversity receive particular ana- lytical attention. We discuss the multiple ways in which various social actors in Scandinavia engage with mediatized conflicts about religion, and the ways in which dominant media frames are replicated, contested, and nuanced. A main finding is that mediatized conflicts about religion are symptomaticall…
