Reading, Writing, Technology, and Embodiment
2022
The insights emerging from embodied (or 4E) cognition (Newen, et al., 2018) hold considerable promise for education, but thus far have had little impact. The widespread implementation of digital technologies in classrooms presents a timely occasion to remedy this situation. The increasing abstraction entailed in the transition from pen and paper to keyboards, and from reading in print books to reading on screens, warrants supplementing extant perspectives on learning and technologies as they are currently represented in curricula and educational policy documents. This chapter helps educators to rethink and redefine the role and meaning of technology in education broadly speaking, and descri…
Avicenna on subjectivity : a philosophical study
2007
Ab? cAl? Ibn S?n? (980–1037 jaa., lat. Avicenna) oli keskiajan arabifilosofeista kenties tärkein. Hänen ajattelunsa yhdisti omaperäisellä tavalla uusplatonistisen ja aristoteelisen perinteen aineksia. Ibn S?n?n vaikutus keskiajan latinankieliseen filosofiaan oli varsinkin psykologian alalla merkittävä, koska hänen psykologinen pääteoksensa käännettiin ennen Aristoteleen tutkielmaa Sielusta, ja se määritti olennaisella tavalla ymmärrystä Aristoteleen psykologiasta. Islamilaisessa filosofisessa perinteessä Ibn S?n? on merkitykseltään Aristoteleen veroinen hahmo.Kaukuan tutkimus käsittelee Ibn S?n?n teoriaa subjektiivisuudesta. Hän käsittelee Ibn S?n?n teoriaa intentionaalisesta tietoisuudesta…
Freeze-out radii extracted from three-pion cumulants in pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions at the LHC
2014
In high-energy collisions, the spatio-temporal size of the particle production region can be measured using the Bose-Einstein correlations of identical bosons at low relative momentum. The source radii are typically extracted using two-pion correlations, and characterize the system at the last stage of interaction, called kinetic freeze-out. In low-multiplicity collisions, unlike in high-multiplicity collisions, two-pion correlations are substantially altered by background correlations, e.g. mini-jets. Such correlations can be suppressed using three-pion cumulant correlations. We present the first measurements of the size of the system at freeze-out extracted from three-pion cumulant correl…

Sociālo mediju diskursa analīze
2018
Implications of fisheries‐induced evolution for population recovery: Refocusing the science and refining its communication
2019
The argument that sufficiently high fishing mortality (selective or not) can effect genetic change in fished populations has gained considerable traction since the late 1970s. The intervening decades have provided compelling experimental and model‐based evidence that fisheries‐induced evolution (FIE) can cause genetic changes in life history, behaviour and body shape, given sufficiently high trait heritability, selection intensity and time. Fisheries‐induced evolution research has also identified or inferred negative implications to population recovery and sustainable yield, prompting calls for evolutionarily enlightened management to reduce the probability of FIE and mitigate its risks. Su…

Master grunnskolelærerutdanning for trinn 5-10, 5-årig masterprogram IDR507 - Universitetet i Agder 2019 The purpose of this study was to gain more knowledge about the concepts of self-handicapping, self-efficacy and fear of failure in physical education, and also to investigate potential variation when it comes to school leveland gender among pupils in secondary school. The aimof thisstudy was twofold; 1) to investigate differences in the relevant concepts on the basis of school leveland gender and 2) to investigate relationships between the different concepts. Part 2 is more specifically related to examining the predictive ability of fear of failure and self-efficacy on self-handicapping. …
Migration for Work & Education : A case study of Nepal
2018
Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2018 Migration is the process of crossing the national or international broader for the sake of getting a high paid job, education, better living standard, prosperity, settlement, and other diverse motives. This thesis is focused on the surging growth of Nepalese younger generation people going abroad for higher education and work. The question discussed in this master study is about why they are willing to leave the home country, and what economic benefits they get from it.The Logistic regression is applied to find the relationship between several independent variables and dependent variables for labor and educational migr…
