Plasma membrane protein trafficking in plant-microbe interactions: a plant cell point of view
2014
International audience; In order to ensure their physiological and cellular functions, plasma membrane (PM) proteins must be properly conveyed from their site of synthesis, i.e., the endoplasmic reticulum, to their final destination, the PM, through the secretory pathway. PM protein homeostasis also relies on recycling and/or degradation, two processes that are initiated by endocytosis. Vesicular membrane trafficking events to and from the PM have been shown to be altered when plant cells are exposed to mutualistic or pathogenic microbes. In this review, we will describe the fine-tune regulation of such alterations, and their consequence in PM protein activity. We will consider the formatio…

International audience; Oxysterols are molecules derived by the oxidation of cholesterol and can be formed either by auto-oxidation, enzymatically or by both processes. Among the oxysterols formed by auto-oxidation, 7-ketocholesterol and 7beta-hydroxycholesterol are the main forms generated. These oxysterols, formed endogenously and brought in large quantities by certain foods, have major cytotoxic properties. They are powerful inducers of oxidative stress, inducing dysfunction of organelles (mitochondria, lysosomes and peroxisomes) that can cause cell death. These molecules are often identified in increased amounts in common pathological states such as cardiovascular diseases, certain eye …

A diagnosis made in 2008 on a zone measuring 98 ha north-east of Chalon-sur-Saône has revealed a lane, a small funerary zone and four occupied areas incorporating buildings used for domestic and agricultural (barn) purposes used during the last two thirds of the 3rd century and the first half of the 4th century ad. The linear distribution of the remains over a distance of 1300 metres has stimulated lively interest and poses several questions regarding the exact nature of the occupation. One of the hypotheses put forward is that of a small agglomeration associated with a possible estate. Analysis relies on studies of ceramic and metallic objects and examination of sets of coins

Estimation of the degrading genetic potential of soil bacterial communities: a new tool for evaluating and predicting soil contamination by organic m…
2007
During the last two centuries, industrialisation has led to increasing contamination of the environment by xenobiotics, notably aromatic compounds (i.e. PAHs, pesticides). These widespread pollutants are a major threat affecting soil quality and human health. In this context, numerous policies have been drawn up notably in Europe, to monitor the threats of pollution to ecosystems and to detect and implement measures to counterbalance the damage. Nevertheless, the European Commission and scientific community are still confronted with a lack of appropriate tools to monitor biodiversity in relation to environmental processes affecting global warming and soil protection. This study proposes too…

The economic role of the State has been the subject of much debate both from theoretical and the practical perspectives. The actors of these controversies include the objectors of the efficiency of the public intervention since Smith to the present days, Keynesians and economists of the synthesis. Topics ranging from principle of the invisible hand, tax, expectations, burden of the debt, crowding out effect, public sector production are treated through of such debates. The work explains the breakdown of public spending components and implications for countries at levels development (OECD, BRICS, and WAEMU). The study also indicated that the effects of the public spending and its components …
