Tiivistelmä: Naiset elävät nepalilaisessa kulttuurissa alisteisessa asemassa. Naisten sorrettu asema näkyy selkeästi muun muassa koulutussektorilla, keskimäärin naiset ovat miehiä vähemmän koulutettuja. Tähän epäkohtaan on pyritty puuttumaan erilaisin kansallisin ja kansainvälisin ohjelmin, mikä on johtanut peruskoulutukseen osallistuvien tyttöjen lukumäärän merkittävään kasvuun. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastelin tyttöjen osallistumista nepalilaisessa kyläkoulussa. Tutkimus on etnografinen tapaustutkimus, jonka myötä tutustuin opettajien ja tyttöjen väliseen vuorovaikutukseen opetustilanteissa. Tut-kimuksen tehtävänä on tarkastella sijaisvanhempina toimivien perhehoitajien arkea ja jaksamisen kokemuksia. Good feedback is a powerful element in learning. Ultimately, however, the impact feedback has on learning depends on how the learner responds to that feedback. So far, foreign or second language studies on feedback have mainly concentrated on different methods of error correction, not on students’ responses to feedback in general. Do gender wage differences within households influence women's empowerment and welfare? : Evidence from Ghana

Using household data from the latest wave of the Ghana Living Standards Survey, this paper utilizes machine learning techniques – IV LASSO – that allows for the treatment of unconfoundedness in the selection of observables and unobservables to examine the structural effect of gender wage differences within households on women's empowerment and welfare in Ghana. The structural parameters of the IV LASSO estimations show that a reduction in household gender wage gap significantly enhances women's empowerment.
