Tutkimme ulkomaisten luonnonväriaineiden tuontia Suomeen 1790-luvun alusta 1850-luvun puoliväliin. Ajankohtaa voidaan luonnehtia murroskaudeksi väriaineiden käytön historiassa. Selvitämme mitä väriaineita Suomeen tuotiin, millaisia määriä, minneniitä tuotiin sekä mistä satamista väriainelastit olivat lähtöisin. Lähdeaineistomme perustan muodostavat Tanskan Juutinrauman tullitilit, joista on koostettu suomalaisia satamia koskeva tietokanta (FIN-STRO: 1560/1791–1856). Lähdepohjaa on täydennetty muulla tilastoaineistolla sekä laadullisella materiaalilla, kuten värjäysoppailla ja Kansalliskirjaston digitaalisella sanomalehtiarkistolla. Tutkimuksessani tarkastelen söpöyttä nykytaiteen ja kulttuurin ilmiönä feministiseen viitekehykseen ja tyttötutkimukseen tukeutuen. Tutkimukseni on ilmiölähtöinen tutkimus Riikka Hyvösen ja Rakel Liekin taidetapahtumasta ”Ylisöpö!”, johon osallistuin syksyllä 2010. Näyttelyssä söpöyttä tarkastellaan maalaustaiteen keinoin ja vieraat pääsivät itse värittämään kuvia teoksista. Taiteilijoiden mielestä söpöys on feministinen kannanotto: ”Tyttö kasvaa söpöyden keskellä mutta aikuistuttuaan hänen on luovuttava siitä jos hän ei halua luopua uskottavuudestaan”. ”Myös taiteen kentällä uskottavuutta etsitään usein negatiivisesta. Vision is a vital attribute to foraging, navigation, mate selection and social signalling in animals, which often have a very different colour perception in comparison to humans. For understanding how animal colour perception works, vision models provide the smallest colour difference that animals of a given species are assumed to detect. To determine the just-noticeable-difference, or JND, vision models use Weber fractions that set discrimination thresholds of a stimulus compared to its background. Application of the lattice-Boltzmann method for simulating attachment of ink particles in paper

In this thesis the basic properties of the lattice- Boltzmann method (LBM) are introduced. Also, a particle model used in combination with LBM is presented, and the combined model is then applied to ink propagation in samples of paper. Simulation geometries were acquired with two different methods, namely confocal microscopy and X-ray tomography. The effect of simulation parameters and paper properties on ink propagation was considered.
