Izraelskie inspiracje amerykańskiej wojny z terrorem

Celem rozdziału jest wyjaśnienie, w jakiej mierze polityka Izraela wobec jego wrogów inspirowała amerykańskie zmagania w ramach tzw. wojny z terrorem. Autorzy skupiają się na trzech obszarach - torturach, administracyjnych zatrzymaniach i tzw. celowanych zabójstwach. Wszystkie one uznano za legalne w systemach prawnych izraelskim i amerykańskim, podczas gdy są one zakazane przez prawo międzynarodowe, w tym konwencje genewskie. Amerykanie po zamachach z 11 września 2001 roku poszli w ślady państwa żydowskiego w tych kwestiach. Izrael, państwo, które od lat otrzymuje wielkie wsparcie ze Stanów Zjednoczonych, wskazał tym drugim sposoby radzenia sobie z terroryzmem.

The images of the bombing in Palermo in May 1943 are still etched in the collective memory. Some of the lacerations caused by the bombs are still clearly visible in the historic city centre, which has been the subject, since the post-war period, of numerous proposals that have remained in the drawer, images of an ethical and civil responsibility that has remained unheard. Old images of war and maps of ideas intersect in a history only apparently concluded in which they become generators of meaning and also bearers of messages relating to a desire for renewal.
Silto acu komprešu ietekme uz acs asaru slāņa īpašībām

Pētījuma mērķis bija novērtēt silto komprešu terapijas efektivitāti uz asaru slāņa īpašībām pacientiem ar sausas acs subjektīvo simptomātiku. 18 pētījuma dalībniekieki, lietojot TheraPearl acu maskas divas reizes dienā no rīta un vakarā pa 5 vai 10 minūtēm, veica silto komprešu terapiju 14 dienu periodā. Diagnostikie mērījumi pirms terapijas, pēc terapijas un trīs nedēļas pēc terapijas beigām tika veikti asaru slāņa īpašību novērtēšanai. Dalībnieki pēc terapijas uzrādīja ievērojamu OSDI un DEQ-5 anketu rezultāta uzlabošanos un uzlabojums saglabājās arī trīs nedēļas pēc terapijas beigām. Pēc terapijas netika novērots statiski būtisks uzlabojums neinvazīvajā asaru slāņa plīšanas laikā (NIBUT).
Lagrangian matches between observations from aircraft, lidar and radar in an orographic warm conveyor belt

Warm conveyor belts (WCBs) are important airstreams in extratropical cyclones, often leading to the formation of intense precipitation and the amplification of upper-level ridges. This study presents a case study that involves aircraft, lidar and radar observations in a WCB ascending from western Europe towards the Baltic Sea during the Hydrological Cycle in the Mediterranean Experiment (HyMeX) and T-NAWDEX-Falcon in October 2012, a preparatory campaign for the THORPEX North Atlantic Waveguide and Downstream Impact Experiment (T-NAWDEX). Pringle maneuver during open partial nephrectomy for renal tumors

Sparing kidney tissue is important because studies show that patients who have their entire kidney removed are more likely to suffer from chronic kidney disease after surgery than patients who received a kidney-sparing partial nephrectomy. The aim of study is to show the effectives of Pringle maneuver for clamping renal pedicle in order to minimize warm ischemia during open partial nephrectomy. Material and method. We retrospectively analyzed 34 patients diagnosed with cT1 renal tumors between 2012 and 2016 and underwent open partial nephrectomy in Sibiu Urology Department. Lasīšanas prasmes tiek izmantotas, lai iegūtu un saglabātu informāciju un zināšanas. Tādēļ diplomdarba autore domā, ka skolēnu lasīšanas prasmes vajadzētu attīstīt sākumskolas angļu valodas stundās, piedaloties ievada uzdevumos. Pētījuma mērķis ir uzzināt, kā ievada uzdevumi palīdz jauniem skolēniem attīstīt viņu angļu valodas lasīšanas prasmes. Izvēlētā pētījuma metode ir atsevišķa gadījuma pētījums, īstenots Brīvajā Māras skolā 4. klasē. Multimodal Aposematic Signals and Their Emerging Role in Mate Attraction

Chemically defended animals often display conspicuous color patterns that predators learn to associate with their unprofitability and subsequently avoid. Such animals (i.e., aposematic), deter predators by stimulating their visual and chemical sensory channels. Hence, aposematism is considered to be “multimodal.” The evolution of warning signals (and to a lesser degree their accompanying chemical defenses) is fundamentally linked to natural selection by predators. Lately, however, increasing evidence also points to a role of sexual selection shaping warning signal evolution. Signs in public space reflect ‘normalcy’ in a community. The authors ask what restricting signs tell us about a society? In order to explore the system and variation in the ways dog signs manifest different norms and control, they compare two different data sets: dog signs in a Northern European town, Jyväskylä in Finland, and two Eastern European villages in Romania. They apply a qualitative methodology based on visual communication, geosemiotics and linguistic landscape studies.
